Manager - Environment, Health and Safety 

 

The opportunity 

 

As our Environment, Health and Safety Manager, you will join our growing national health and safety consulting team based in Melbourne on either a full or part-time basis. 

 

You will help our broad range of clients in Oceania to strategically diagnose health, safety and wellbeing challenges, design and implement the right solutions based on better practice and risk-based approaches. A key strength of our team is how we apply our diversity of skillsets and professional backgrounds to build the right solutions for our clients based on their specific needs. 

 

This is a hybrid position based in Naarm – Melbourne. Our roles can potentially be adjusted to work flexibly with reduced hours. Please speak with us about potential options. 

 

Your key responsibilities 

You will be an integral part of a leading national team of multi-disciplinary health, safety and wellbeing professionals, assisting organisations across a range of industries to transform their approach to health, safety and wellbeing. You will be responsible for: 

  • Managing a variety of engagements involving physical and psychosocial risk management, strategy, audit and analytical frameworks, culture change and leadership to help clients succeed and navigate complex operational and regulatory environments. 

  • Fostering a collaborative and high performing team environment underpinned by coaching and development, while applying technical expertise of health, safety and wellbeing to direct project teams on delivery of EY’s health and safety services. 

  • Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with key business decision-makers, both internally and externally. 

  • Identifying and communicating trends, developments, and key performance drivers relevant to the client, while demonstrating a deep understanding of the industry and marketplace. 

 

What we look for      

To be considered for this role you must have: 

  • Minimum of five years of technical EHS experience in process safety, safety in design, dangerous goods, risk management, or health and safety management systems, with a strong grounding in risk management fundamentals, WHS legislation, and management systems, complemented by excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Proven project management experience in dynamic environments, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, alongside strong problem-solving, analytical skills, and a proactive approach to identifying new opportunities. 

  • Experience in coaching talent and developing internal and external relationships, including client management, with the ability to travel intra and interstate as required. 

 

Ideally, you’ll also have the skills and attributes below but don’t worry if you don’t tick all the boxes. We’re interested in your aptitude, attitude and willingness to learn.  

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in engineering, environmental or health sciences (e.g. psychology), human factors, safety science, or business will be highly regarded 

  • Exemplar Global auditor and Cert IV in Training and Assessment qualifications are desirable but not necessary. 

  • Understanding of the design and implementation of EHS management systems 

  • EHS audit experience.
