At EY we believe that whoever you are, your uniqueness helps us stand apart.

We bring together extraordinary people, like you, to build a better working world.

What’s in it for you?

We are expanding our team and looking for Senior Consultants and Managers to join the Climate Change and Sustainability Services team to be based in several of our Australian office locations: Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide.

The EY Climate Change and Sustainability Services team is the biggest sustainability consulting team in Oceania. Our multidisciplinary teams help companies understand the risks and opportunities arising from climate change and sustainability issues, advising a large proportion of the ASX 200 to help them drive performance beyond their bottom line.

Our team works across the full spectrum of sustainability and climate change issues, including environmental, social and governance (“ESG”) strategy, outcomes measurement, climate risk and decarbonisation, human rights and modern slavery through advisory and assurance engagements.

Your key responsibilities

  • Assurance of non-financial reporting, including sustainability metrics, emissions and energy reporting across a range of industry sectors

  • Contribute to strategy, solutions, methodologies, analytical frameworks and tools to help clients succeed and navigate complex regulatory environments and manage stakeholder expectations

  • Assist clients to develop and implement sustainability strategies, develop targets, and implement plans to enhance sustainability value for a broad range of sustainability topics, including diversity, waste, modern slavery and environmental impacts

  • Analyse effects of water, air quality and climate change towards organisations and communities, including ensuring integrity of environmental data as well as understanding climate risks and opportunities, in order to formulate short-and long-term management objectives

What we’re looking for

Here’s our ‘wish list’ but don’t worry if you don’t tick all the boxes. We’re interested in your strengths, what you want to learn, and how far you want to go.

  • Tertiary qualification, such as in engineering, science, economics or accounting

  • Experience in climate change services (either in professional services, industry or government)

  • Experience in financial or non-financial audit (either in professional services, industry or government)

  • Ability to work independently across multiple engagements with overlapping deadlines

  • Agility to learn and adapt on the job, ask the right questions and strive for the best solutions for clients

  • Demonstrable experience in and passion for reporting and/or assurance of greenhouse gas emissions

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Professional services/consulting experience

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and codes of practice as well as a good understanding of the climate-related issues

  • Practical experience with energy and emissions reporting schemes including National Greenhouse Emissions Reporting (NGER) scheme, the Safeguard Mechanism and the Emissions Reduction Fund (ERF)

  • Climate risk assessment and disclosure experience, including knowledge of the Taskforce on Climate-related Financial Disclosure (TCFD) Framework

  • Knowledge of key assurance standards including General Audit and Assurance Procedures (GAAP), International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) and the associated draft Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards (ASRS)

  • Knowledge of, and experience in decarbonisation approaches, climate risk and climate strategy.
