Director - Financial Services Risk Management
The opportunity
We are seeking a highly experienced Director, Risk Management to play a pivotal role in the continued growth of our Melbourne Risk practice. This is a market-facing leadership opportunity focused on expanding our Risk Management offering, further strengthening our established capability and delivering exceptional outcomes for our clients.
As a senior leader, you will lead complex and high-profile risk engagements, drive business development initiatives, and support the growth and development of our people. You will work closely with clients across a broad range of risk, governance and regulatory matters, helping organisations navigate an increasingly complex risk landscape while delivering practical and commercially focused solutions.
This role offers the opportunity to influence the strategic direction of the practice, contribute to national growth initiatives, and build lasting client relationships while leading a high-performing team.

This is a hybrid role based in Naarm – Melbourne.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver complex Risk Management engagements across governance, FAR/BEAR, CPS 220, APRA-regulated environments and broader risk advisory services.
- Lead engagement teams in strengthening commercial management, client relationship management and account growth activities to maximise client value and business outcomes.
- Drive business development through identifying, shaping and converting market opportunities, leveraging your network and market insights to grow the practice. \
- Act as a trusted adviser to clients, providing strategic advice on risk management, governance and regulatory compliance challenges.
- Lead, coach and mentor team members, fostering a strong culture of collaboration, quality, performance and professional development.
- Lead thought leadership initiatives, market-facing activities and brand-building efforts that enhance our market presence.
- Champion quality and risk management across engagements, ensuring compliance with professional standards and promoting a culture of excellence.
- Collaborate across service lines and competencies to drive integrated client solutions and support the firm's broader growth agenda.
Skills and attributes for success
To be successful in this role, you will bring extensive experience in Risk Management consulting and demonstrate expertise across several of the following areas:
- Governance framework design, enhancement and effectiveness reviews.
- Risk transformation programs and governance uplift initiatives.
- Risk culture assessments and organisational change programs.
- Operational risk management frameworks and controls enhancement.
- CPS 230 implementation, operational resilience reviews and assurance activities.
- Consumer protection, customer outcomes and conduct risk matters.
- Customer remediation programs and complex regulatory response initiatives.
- Independent reviews, including regulatory reviews, customer outcome assessments and transaction due diligence.
- Strong commercial acumen with a proven ability to build client relationships, generate revenue growth and identify new business opportunities.
- Outstanding stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior executives and Boards.
- Proven leadership experience, including coaching, mentoring and developing high-performing teams.
- A strong commitment to quality, collaboration and delivering exceptional client outcomes.
