Director, Digital Health 

The opportunity 

As a Director, Digital Health, you will join our Technology Consulting practice, supporting major digital health transformation initiatives across Australia and New Zealand. This role plays a key part in helping health and human services clients shape and deliver future-focused digital health programs, spanning clinical systems strategy, electronic health records, enterprise virtual care, radiology systems, interoperability, data and AI governance, and broader digital investment planning. 

We are seeking a leader who brings strong digital health credibility and practical delivery experience into a consulting environment. You may come from industry, government, health technology, clinical informatics, or consulting, but you will be comfortable working with senior stakeholders to solve complex challenges and drive meaningful digital health outcomes. Operating at the intersection of health strategy, business capability, clinical transformation, and technology delivery, you will lead client conversations, shape advisory and delivery opportunities, contribute to proposal and RFP responses, and collaborate with local and global EY teams, alliance partners, and health technology specialists. 

Success in this role will require a blend of health sector expertise, commercial acumen, and leadership capability. You will bring the confidence to engage with executive stakeholders, the adaptability to thrive within a consulting environment, and the ambition to help grow and shape EY’s Digital Health practice across Oceania while delivering practical, outcome-focused solutions for our clients. 

Your key responsibilities 

• Lead and support digital health advisory and delivery engagements across Australia and New Zealand, with a focus on clinical systems, electronic health records, virtual care, radiology systems and broader digital health transformation. 

• Work with senior health sector stakeholders to understand strategic priorities, define requirements, assess current-state digital and clinical maturity, and design practical pathways to future-state capability. 

• Support clients through investment planning, business case development, architecture options, implementation phasing, procurement preparation and delivery partner selection. 

• Lead or contribute to responses for major digital health RFPs, drawing on EY’s local, regional and global capability, alliance relationships and health technology expertise. 

• Provide subject matter expertise across digital health platforms, clinical informatics, interoperability, data governance, AI governance, cybersecurity, enterprise architecture and health technology risk. 

• Help build EY’s Digital Health capability by contributing to thought leadership, market development, client relationship development and internal capability building. 

• Work closely with Partners and Associate Partners to convert market opportunities into high-quality client engagements, with support as you build consulting and business development experience. 

• Lead multidisciplinary teams across strategy, technology, clinical transformation, data, change and delivery to achieve client outcomes. 

• Bring a pragmatic delivery lens to complex technology transformation, balancing clinical, operational, commercial and technical considerations. 

• Contribute to a collaborative, inclusive and high-performing team culture across Oceania Consulting. 

Skills and attributes for success 

• Deep experience in digital health, clinical systems, healthcare technology or health informatics, ideally gained within complex health provider, government, consulting or technology environments. 

• Strong understanding of the Australian and/or New Zealand digital health landscape, including enterprise clinical systems, electronic medical records, virtual care, interoperability and health data platforms. 

• Demonstrated experience engaging with senior executives, clinicians, operational leaders, technology teams and external partners to shape strategy and deliver outcomes. 

• Ability to translate complex technology concepts into business, clinical and operational value. 

• Experience contributing to business cases, investment planning, procurement activities, vendor assessments, technology roadmaps or transformation programs. 

• Strong executive presence, with the ability to hold a room, build credibility quickly and influence senior stakeholders. 

• Commercial acumen and an interest in building consulting, sales and market development capability. 

• Strong delivery leadership, including the ability to structure work, mobilise teams, manage stakeholders and navigate ambiguity. 

• A collaborative mindset, with the ability to work across service lines, geographies, alliances and client teams. 

• Curiosity, adaptability and a willingness to work across broader technology consulting areas where required. 

Ideally, you’ll also have the skills and attributes below but don’t worry if you don’t tick all the boxes. We’re interested in your aptitude, attitude and willingness to learn.   

• Experience working across health provider environments, public health systems, hospital networks, government health agencies or major digital health programs. 

• Exposure to electronic health records, enterprise virtual care, radiology systems, clinical applications, interoperability standards and health data exchange. 

• Knowledge of Microsoft platform technologies, data and integration models, AI governance, digital innovation and enterprise technology strategy. 

• Experience working with or around national digital health bodies, standards or programs, such as ADHA, My Health Record or FHIR interoperability standards. 

• Experience in business case development, strategy development, vendor and contract management, technology investment governance or portfolio management. 

• Formal qualifications or credentials in health informatics, technology, clinical practice, project delivery, enterprise architecture or digital health.
