At EY, you’ll have the chance to build a career as unique as you are, with the global scale, support, inclusive culture and technology to become the best version of you. And we’re counting on your unique voice and perspective to help EY become even better, too. Join us and build an exceptional experience for yourself, and a better working world for all.

The opportunity

This opportunity within EY, in the unique and fast-growing area of Transaction Analytics, leverages data to derive insights through a commercial lens and has the potential to impact decisions in both buy- and sell-side M&A Transactions. We provide data-driven solutions aimed to enhance our clients’ decision making during financial due diligence.

You will join an established team of forward-thinking analytics professionals who:

  • Have core competencies across data analytics, finance, accounting, and consulting

  • Are comfortable wrangling together multiple large datasets on a day-to-day basis

  • Understand the detailed nuances of datasets while maintaining one eye on the relevance and alignment to key commercial themes for the business at hand

  • Maintain analytical grit while progressing through the team via a path of commercial acumen over technology stacks and computational prowess

  • Support our clients’ decisions through storytelling, translating analysis into strategic insights regarding business performance and growth

Do you see this fitting in with your career aspirations?

About the role

You will contribute to project delivery which will initially see you cementing your expertise in data processing, analytics and visualisation, with a focus on quality and accuracy. It will also be essential that you work efficiently and present findings in a way that is easily understood by Transaction professionals. And, over time, you will add value to the team through critical thinking and problem solving, navigating through both data and commercial complexities with an increasing level of consulting-style agility.

The role comes with exciting, challenging and demanding client projects in which each business model that we analyse is unique. As such, we also dedicate our downtime to innovate in our capabilities around efficiently generating strategic and commercially relevant insights.

Your longer-term growth in the team will be evidenced by an increasing understanding of the relevance of your analyses in the context of the business you are analysing. As such you will not only critique the output of your own work to a higher degree but also take on each new client project with an increasing awareness of the key business drivers and how to analyse them in a meaningful way.

About you

To be successful you will have:

  • An undergraduate or graduate degree that provides a strong basis in either a quantitative, analytical or commercial discipline, such as accounting, finance, economics, business or data analytics

  • Approximately 1 to 3 years of related work experience with a demonstrated aptitude for numerical reasoning and quantitative analysis

  • An ability to work with high performing individuals from a combination of both commerce and technology backgrounds

  • Excellent financial, analytical, interpersonal and communication skills

  • A desire to work in the fast-paced Transaction Diligence mergers and acquisitions-oriented environment

  • An innovative mindset that also maintains focus on fit-for-purpose solutions

  • Strong work initiative and the ability to be agile from day to do and adapt to new challenges and ideas

  • A willingness to learn, or existing familiarity with, tools/applications across data management, data visualisation and analytics, including:

    • Power BI (including advanced DAX) / Tableau / Spotfire / etc.

    • Alteryx / SQL / Azure / etc.

    • Python / R / SAS / etc.

    • Excel / VBA / PowerPivot / PowerQuery / etc.
