Transformation Execution - Manager

The opportunity
EY GPS Transformation Execution is currently looking for qualified professionals interested in helping US federal, state and local agencies better manage their programs and projects. Your key responsibilities
As one of our GPS leaders, you’ll work with government clients to support and improve a broad range of program management (PM) operations, including integration, scope, time, cost, quality, human resources, communications, risk, procurement and stakeholder management. You will have the opportunity to apply your PM knowledge on meaningful and complex projects, while working with multidisciplinary teams and industry leaders. We also will provide access to robust PM training programs and in-house PM leadership. Key responsibilities of the position include:
- Leading PM engagements
- Directing and planning technical, financial, risk and quality aspects of client engagements
- Leading service development and service delivery execution
- Communicating issues, status and thought leadership to partners and clients
- Building impactful relationships with key influencers to effectively manage work and generate new business opportunities
- Share leading practices and insights about current industry or subject-matter topics with EY US leaders, proposal teams and clients
- Building, managing and motivating high-performing teams, including supporting people-related initiatives (e.g., recruitment, retention, training, competency development)
- Communicating the improvements from and helping implement EY US’ portfolio management, PM and project management methodologies
- Developing people through effective leadership, coaching, mentoring and performance assessment of all levels of staff
- Communicating workplace policies, procedures and practices to all levels of staff
Skills and attributes for success
- Understand clients’ cultures and operations to influence important decisions
- Leverage industry leading practices and trends to provide valuable insights to clients
- Assist with cultivating and managing business development opportunities. Understand EY and its service lines and actively assess/present ways to serve clients.
- Develop and maintain long-term client relationships and networks. Develop relationships with team members across all EY practices to serve client needs.
To qualify for the role you must have
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with an emphasis in PM or Project Management, Finance, Accounting, Engineering or a business-related field and approximately six years of recent consulting or relevant industry experience (with at least four years of recent consulting experience preferred) with the ability to show a significant client impact and results, or a master’s degree and four years of work relevant experience
- At least five years of experience leading teams on engagements required
- Knowledge and experience working for a federal or state agency in the following areas:
- Project or program centralization and transformation
- Risk management
- Financial controls and management
- Schedule management
- Resource planning and management
- Workflow management and operational optimization
- Organizational change management
- Process improvement
- Stakeholder and customer engagement support
- Performance measurement or performance management
- Performance measures and metrics development
- Benchmarking and gap analysis
- Demonstrated ability to develop long-term client relationships
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop staff
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with one or more PM software package, such as Microsoft Project or Oracle Primavera
- Proficiency with Microsoft SharePoint
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance or higher.
- Due to the nature of our work in the Government and Public Sector, work may be required to be completed at client, EY and/or contractor sites. Our goal is to assign professionals to projects within a commutable distance of their work location office. In certain circumstances, travel may be required beyond your work location based on client and project needs. Candidates should be willing to travel on average 25% to 30% or more in a hybrid environment.

What we look for
Top performers have experience leading client service projects, business devolvement efforts and internal growth initiatives. The candidate should have experience delivering services for project plans on large, complex engagements. Experience with federal, state or local agencies, often gained by working in a Big Four global management consulting firm or a blue-chip company focused on the government and public sector, is a plus.

- We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $127,100 to $233,000. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $152,500 to $264,800. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
- Join us in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.
