You will ideally have previous exposure to technology consulting, and a keen interest in advising the US government and Public sector. You should have strong communication skills, and business and technology acumen, and have a passion for delivering value to our clients.

 

Your responsibilities

 

 

The Technical Lead is responsible for understanding all client-related processes and the current as-is state of those processes and for identifying gaps for leadership to prioritize. In addition to client processes, the Technical Lead will become an expert in processes that interface with other Government agencies that client works with to include multiple components within DHS, and they will identify and solution ways to improve how data is exchanged between agencies and DHS components in support of these processes.

 

The team will then plan and document to-be solutions to those gaps and work with IT stakeholders and leadership to close those gaps and improve the efficiency and processes. Gaps and their solutions can be technical, resource shortfalls, and policy gaps. The Technical Lead should have a strong understanding of data and application solutions along with cloud-based environments to include AWS and Azure and be ready to advise the customer on how to solve gaps and approach different solutions to those gaps.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Work closely with the customer to understand business processes and gaps
  • Create As-Is and To-Be formal documentation for business processes
  • Formally document gaps for leadership review and prioritization
  • Identify technical solutions that can address gaps
  • Develop solution requirements and Use Cases describing and documenting the solutions to gaps
  • Work closely with development teams to represent requirements
  • Experienced with working with Jira or Azure DevOps for Agile Sprint management and change request tracking
  • Experienced with data warehouses and creating SQL queries to study and report on case data. The Technical Lead will sometimes respond to data calls from the customer, pulling the results from the data warehouse
  • Experienced in identifying data issues and quality problems as gaps to be addressed
  • Participate in daily Scrum-style stand ups and occasionally lead these meetings
  • Familiarity with DHS components and processes is a plus, particularly ICE and CBP

 

To qualify for the role you must have

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret clearance or higher, which will be driven by the engagement requirement
  • 5 or more years of experience in designing and developing web-based applications using enterprise level development languages such as C# or Java
  • Experience with production data and DevOps tools and environments
  • Knowledge of SQL queries
  • Experience in writing professional customer deliverables

 

Due to the nature of our work in the Government and Public Sector, work may be required to be completed at client, EY and/or contractor sites. Our goal is to assign professionals to projects within a commutable distance of their work location office.  In certain circumstances, travel may be required beyond your work location based on client and project needs. Candidates should be willing to travel on average 25% to 30% or more in a hybrid environment.

 

 

Ideally, you’ll also have

 

  • Visual design experience preferred, including user interface development for Web and mobile experiences
  • Experience in user centered design practices and principles, including research & testing, information architecture, prototyping, taxonomy and other areas
  • Experience in agile scrum methodology and management tools (e.g., JIRA, VersionOne, etc.)
  • Experience executing project plans on large, complex engagements from analysis through implementation
  • Expertise in developing written and visual communication products
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of Adobe creative suite as well as prototyping software
  • Knowledge of major digital trends and platforms
  • Knowledge of modern web and mobile architecture
  • Ability to collaborate with clients and identify engagement follow-on opportunities

We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $101,500 to $186,000. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $121,700 to $211,300. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.
