The opportunity

Your key responsibilities 

 

Our Senior Business Analyst will work with government clients to support and improve a broad range of operations, including documentation and communications, problem solving, data analysis, requirements gathering, and stakeholder management. You will have the opportunity to apply your knowledge to meaningful and complex projects, while working with multidisciplinary teams and industry leaders. Key responsibilities of the position may include any of the following: 

 

  • Serving as a trusted client advisor, assisting in project delivery
  • Project scoping, planning and tracking, maintaining a risk register, on-time delivery, and high-quality deliverables and services
  • Delivering strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for creating comprehensive documentation like requirement specifications, process flows, and user stories.
  • Interacting with stakeholders from diverse departments to comprehend their needs, challenges, and objectives
  • Eliciting, documenting, and analyzing business requirements. This involves conducting interviews, workshops, and other methods to gather information and translate it into actionable plans
  • Identifying problems or inefficiencies within current business processes or systems and proposing effective solutions; Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Utilizing data to make informed decisions, draw insights, and support recommendations. Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques is beneficial.
  • Assisting in project planning, tracking, and ensuring that business requirements align with project deliverables; Collaborating with project managers and other team members.
  • Contributing to ongoing improvement initiatives by evaluating existing processes, systems, and workflows to suggest enhancements
  • Being adaptable to changing business needs, priorities, and project scopes
  • Stakeholder management: Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders at different levels, managing expectations, and ensuring effective communication throughout the project lifecycle
  • Preparing briefs and talking points for the client and participates in client presentations when needed
  • Providing advice, assistance and written recommendations on strategic initiatives and process improvement opportunities.
  • Supports the client in program management activities like contributing to the process of creating and maintaining the project’s Integrated Master Schedule, providing plans to roll out programs, coordinating budgets and lifecycle costs for the project, and supporting the onboarding process
  • Developing people through effective leadership, coaching and mentoring of all levels of staff

  • Leverage industry leading practices and trends to provide valuable insights to clients 
  • Assist with cultivating and managing business development opportunities. Understand EY and its service lines and actively assess/present ways to serve clients. 
  • Develop and maintain long-term client relationships and networks. Develop relationships with team members across all EY practices to serve client needs. 

 

To qualify for the role, you must have 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 7 or more years of relevant professional work experience as business analyst
  • Proficient in presentation software (e.g., PowerPoint, Keynote) and data visualization tools
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Secret clearance

 

The EY Government and Public Sector Practice’s staffing model is to assign resources to projects aligned to the office within the metropolitan area you have been hired; however, in certain circumstances, travel may be required within and/or beyond your geographic region based on client and project needs.  For roles within the federal practice, the flexibility to travel up to approximately 30% is preferred. Within the state, local and education practice, the flexibility to travel up to approximately 80% is preferred.

What we look for 

 

Top performers have experience supporting client service projects, business devolvement efforts and internal growth initiatives. The candidate should have experience delivering services for project plans on medium to small projects. Experience with federal, state or local agencies, often gained by working in a Big Four global management consulting firm or a blue-chip company focused on the government and the public sector, is a plus.  

 
What we offer
 
We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $96,300 to $176,500. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $115,500 to $200,600. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Join us in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year. Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances. You’ll also be granted time off for designated EY Paid Holidays, Winter/Summer breaks, Personal/Family Care, and other leaves of absence when needed to support your physical, financial, and emotional well-being.
