The opportunity

You will play a key role in defining and reviewing how Private Equity (“PE”) Fund advisors meet regulatory, tax, and financial statement reporting requirements, using our new, proprietary EY-developed technology platform. Top tier PE fund managers are assessing and onboarding to the EY platform, which brings together investment risk data, transaction, and holdings data into a single platform for workflow management, transparency, and accountability to lower reporting costs and streamline their fund accounting and fund financial reporting processes. Your key responsibilities

  • Review journal entries and related support documents for quarterly fund valuation entries.
  • Review the work of other team members with diverse backgrounds to ensure accuracy and completion according to regulatory reporting policies and procedures.
  • Drive high quality work products within expected timeframes and budget. Monitor progress, manage risks, and ensure leadership is kept informed about progress and expected outcomes.
  • Resolve any exceptions/negative trends in Reference Data Operations and continuously develop and implement possible solutions to streamline existing processes.
  • Bring strong attention to detail, problem solving and critical thinking to ensure work is complete and accurate and escalate issues to leadership when appropriate.

  • Capable of transforming demonstrations into comprehensive written procedures, work aids, FAQs, and other documentation.
  • Understands how to structure written content to enhance usability for end users.
  • Quickly grasps new processes and can actively collaborate with Subject Matter Advisors and other team members to develop corresponding procedures, ensuring alignment with organizational standards and best practices.
  • Actively participates in discussions by posing relevant questions during meetings and demonstrations, seeking clarification from Subject Matter Advisors as needed to enhance understanding and drive informed decision-making.
  • Possesses a risk-aware mindset, capable of identifying key risk areas and effectively communicating them to relevant team members, while also playing a proactive role in contributing to their resolution.
  • Demonstrates a strong ability to build and nurture relationships with various stakeholders, gathering valuable input and feedback on policies and training initiatives to foster a collaborative environment.
  • Detail-oriented, meticulously capturing all aspects of a process and ensuring their incorporation into our procedures and policies, thereby promoting consistency and accuracy across the organization
  • Strong interest in gaining expertise in the complexities of private equity and real estate fund accounting, investment accounting, and reporting practices.
  • Deliver client requirements in a regulatory driven environment, process improvements, and understand operationally complex fund accounting principles.
  • Develop relationships with team members across multiple geographic locations and time zones

 

To qualify for the role, you must have:

  • At least 3 years of work experience in fund accounting operations, fund audit, or a related field within the asset management industry, especially private equity and real estate funds.
  • Strong technical writing skills and relevant experience writing accounting policies, procedures, and training materials.
  • Ability to run client-facing meetings to gather requirements needed to create new or refresh existing accounting policies.
  • Working knowledge of common and complex  private equity and real estate fund structures.
  • A bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance or related discipline
  • Analytical skills, especially those related to fund accounting, investment accounting and asset management.
  • Strong proven communication skills demonstrated through effective writing and presentations to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Effective leadership, project management, and organizational skills.
  • An understanding of financial products and services, including those related to depository institutions, asset management, securities, financial technology, and/or private equity.
  • An interest in working in an environment which encourages continuous learning, development and identification of opportunities for improvement of individual and team performance.
  • A willingness to travel on an exception basis for client needs.

 

Ideally, you’ll also have:

  • Understanding of risk and controls framework utilized in developing SSAE 18 SOC 1 reports.
  • An interest in technical accounting concepts.
  • Understanding of fund legal documents (LPA, PPM) and fund structure charts.
  • Experience overseeing the work of junior team members including coaching and mentoring

  • We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business.  The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $67,600 to $138,000.  The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $81,100 to $156,900.  Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography.  In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
  • Join us in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.
