Senior AI Engineer with Italian - EY GDS Spain - Hybrid

The opportunity

As a Junior AI Engineer, you will work within multidisciplinary teams to support the design, development, and industrialization of AI and Generative AI solutions across a wide range of sectors. You will gain hands-on experience with modern machine learning techniques, data engineering pipelines, and enterprise-grade AI platforms while learning from senior professionals and working on meaningful client engagements.

Your key responsibilities

In line with our consulting and delivery model, you will be responsible for supporting end-to-end AI and data-driven initiatives, including:

Collecting business requirements and translating them into technical specifications for AI/ML use cases

Supporting the development and testing of Python components for preprocessing, feature engineering,

model training, evaluation, and inference

Contributing to data and ML pipelines (batch or near-real-time) in collaboration with Data Engineers and

Architects

• Participating in the implementation of Generative AI applications, including prompt design, RAG

(Retrieval-Augmented Generation), evaluation workflows, and quality checks

• Applying MLOps practices such as versioning, basic monitoring, documentation, and code management

(Git)

• Preparing technical documentation, solution notes, and presentations for stakeholders

Skills and attributes for success

To excel in this role, you bring curiosity, analytical thinking, a collaborative approach, and a strong interest in modern AI technologies. You demonstrate the ability to learn fast, communicate clearly, and work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

To qualify for the role, you must have

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics,

or similar fields

Solid foundational knowledge of Python programming, SQL, and basic machine learning concepts

supervised/unsupervised, metrics, model validation)

Understanding of data management and preprocessing fundamentals

Strong analytical mindset, problem-solving attitude, and communication skills

Ability to work effectively in team environments

Professional proficiency in English

Professional proficiency in Italian (mandatory)

Ideally, you’ll also have

Hands-on experience from academic or personal projects on ML or GenAI (GitHub, dissertations, demos)

Initial exposure to cloud ecosystems (Azure/AWS/GCP) or containerization (Docker) Basic understanding of APIs (FastAPI/Flask), pipelines, or Responsible AI principles
