Senior Power BI Developer

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Power BI Developer to support an accounting and compliance reporting environment serving clients in the real estate fund industry.

This role sits at the intersection of data, reporting, and business insight. The successful candidate will transform large volumes of operational and client data into clear and impactful dashboards and visualizations, enabling:

• Insightful analysis of client and operational activities
• Transparent reporting on services delivered, including KPIs, operational metrics, and performance indicators

The role involves close collaboration with Fund solution teams to ensure reporting accurately reflects both client data and internal performance while remaining accessible to non‑technical stakeholders.

The Senior Power BI Developer will contribute to a dedicated BI team, helping build a robust and scalable reporting framework while sharing knowledge and promoting best practices.

Key Responsibilities

Power BI Development & Analytics

• Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports supporting accounting and operational reporting

• Translate business needs into scalable and user‑friendly BI solutions
• Build and maintain efficient data models and develop advanced DAX measures for KPIs and performance analysis
• Optimize report performance and troubleshoot technical issues

Data Access & Data Flow

• Use SQL to retrieve, transform, and validate data from source systems, warehouses, and data lakes
• Work within data‑lake driven architectures and understand upstream and downstream dependencies
• Support improvements to data flows and reporting processes

Data Quality & Governance

• Implement controls ensuring data accuracy, traceability, and consistency
• Ensure alignment between reported figures and accounting expectations
• Implement and maintain Row‑Level Security (RLS) and other access controls
• Ensure reporting meets requirements of regulated and audit‑sensitive environments

Collaboration & Enablement

• Work closely with Fund solution teams to understand reporting needs
• Translate business requirements into technical reporting solutions
• Support and train end‑users on Power BI and BI tools
• Mentor junior BI team members and contribute to continuous improvement
• Collaborate to develop the end-to-end IT, data infrastructure and integration

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Skills

• Strong expertise in Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service
• Advanced DAX and Power Query (M)
• Strong data modeling knowledge (star schema, dimensional modeling)
• Advanced SQL skills
• Experience with data warehouses and data lakes
• Knowledge of report performance optimization and troubleshooting
• Experience with Row‑Level Security (RLS)
• Experience with Superset or other BI tools is an advantage

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in BI, analytics, or reporting roles
• Proven experience delivering complex business reporting solutions

Nice-to-Have Experience

• Understanding of funds, SPVs, portfolios, assets, and investor reporting
• Experience working with real estate accounting or reporting teams
• Familiarity with Yardi; experience with Yardi reporting is a strong advantage

Soft Skills

• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities
• Ability to manage multiple priorities independently
• Clear communication with technical and non‑technical stakeholders
• Collaborative mindset and attention to quality

Education

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related field
• Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Power BI / Data Analyst) are a plus
