In order to continue the expansion of our Financial Services practice, we are currently looking to recruit a Valuation in Audit Assistant.
About the job
You will support the ViA (Valuation in Assurance) Team within the FAAS (Financial Accounting Advisory Services) department to perform and carry out analyses of valuation of different types of real estate properties. You will be assessing the reasonableness of valuations and financial models in the context of financial reporting and assurance related engagements. You will add value to EY and our Clients with the provision of specialist knowledge, insight, and objectivity in support of the audit of financial statements.
As a ViA Assistant, you will support various engagements by sourcing additional information, critically evaluating methodologies, assumptions, valuation rationale, and conclusions with professional skepticism. You will build a solid understanding of valuation professional standards, as well as relevant local legal and regulatory requirements. Additionally, you will develop in-depth knowledge of key valuation frameworks, including the RICS Red Book Global Standards, International Valuation Standards (IVS), and IFRS 13.
About you
You are a graduate of an RICS accredited degree with an appreciation of valuation mathematics and the main investment valuation methods; the Investment Method, DCF and the Residual method.
You take pride in your work and possess the diligence, discipline and resourcefulness that ensures your work is undertaken to a high standard and that conclusions drawn are credible and accurate. You have an inquisitive and open mind and are prepared to learn and understand alternative valuation perspectives and local market practices.
You are implicitly motivated, believe in ethical professional practice and understand what is meant by competent, independent and objective valuation work. You have a keen interest in the wider macro-economic issues and their effect on RE markets, and, ultimately want to build your reputation as a ‘Specialist’ within the RE industry, valuation or otherwise.
To qualify for the position, you must have:
- Graduate in Finance, Economics, Business, Management, and/or Architecture and Civil Engineering, with a focus on Valuation, or Accounting. RICS-accredited degree is considered an advantage;
- 1-2 years of relevant experience, preferably in Real Estate Valuation;
- Solid understanding of various real estate valuation approaches and methods, including Discounted Cash Flow (DCF), Direct Income Capitalization, and Residual Method;
- Basic understanding of different types of real estate, including residential and commercial properties;
- General knowledge of valuation standards (IVS, RICS);
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; detail-oriented, with demonstrable analytical and numerical excellence;
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, with flexibility to manage and prioritize multiple tasks or engagements under tight deadlines;
- A fluent level of English, German and/or French are considered to be advantageous;
- Excellent communication, presentation and report writing skills;
- IT proficiency and a working familiarity with MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint;
- Professional qualification in progress (CFA, CAIA, ACA, RICS, and etc.) is a plus.
