The opportunity

At EY, the FAAS Team provides varying types of accounting and non-accounting services covering wide range of topics and experiences including (but not limited to):

  • GAAP conversions    
  • complex accounting assessments
  • financial and nonfinancial reporting and consolidation
  • finance process improvement
  • financial and non-financial analysis
  • finance IT system migration
  • audit remediation
  • internal controls assessment
  • regulatory reporting
  • treasury and hedging
  • technical finance training
  • benchmarking and market analysis

Considering the close integration between finance and risk, the FAAS Team not only work with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) but also with the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) and Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) in navigating and addressing financial, operational, and regulatory challenges that clients are facing.

We help clients address their financial and nonfinancial reporting challenges, robust financial data analytics and innovation, help clients build more sustainable and profitable enterprises, and work closely with other service lines across EY.

Our team works with companies across various industries such as banks and other financial institutions, funds (private equity, private debt, real estate, etc) and commercial companies.


Your key responsibilities

The nature of this role means no two projects will be the same. That means you'll need to think on your feet and challenge existing practices to develop answers to complex issues. You'll also be collaborating with colleagues across multiple service lines, so we'll look to you to build relationships and identify opportunities for our clients to benefit from our knowledge in other areas.

The services we provide to our clients, tailored to their needs, include the following:

  • Financial and nonfinancial reporting and consolidation
    • Continuous learning in relation to relevant accounting updates
    • Advise on the application of IFRS (especially IFRS 7, 9, 13, and 17) and LuxGAAP for Banks
    • Assist in the review of financial statements and disclosures
    • Support accounting policy development and implementation
    • Provide technical accounting support for structured transactions, material and complex transactions, and new financial instruments
  • Treasury, risk, and regulatory reporting
    • Advise on hedge structuring, treasury operations, and fair value measurements
    • Advise on credit risk assessment, reasonableness of credit staging, and calculation of expected credit losses
    • Support in aligning treasury reporting with accounting standards
    • Review and assist in the preparation of various prudential reporting requirements in line with regulatory standards.
    • Coordinate with internal teams and external auditors to validate regulatory submissions
  • Corporate governance, controls, and information technology
    • Strengthen internal controls over financial reporting and regulatory reporting
    • Assist in audit readiness and remediation of control deficiencies
    • Leverage data analytics to improve reporting accuracy and insights
    • Assist in the implementation of finance operating models to operationalize banking finance operations

As an Assistant, you’ll be expected to:

    • Conduct research and analysis on accounting, regulatory matters or finance processes and identify and communicate relevant trends, developments and key performance drivers relevant to the client and its industry
    • Contribute actively in the FAAS engagement team to understand and respond to the client's needs and expectations and develop a client-focused, clear, accurate and well-presented work product
    • Work closely with managers and seniors to deliver client engagements on time and with high quality in compliance with EY high standard requirements
    • Collaborate with team members across different service lines to support integrated client solutions
    • Participate in client meetings and assist in preparing presentation materials and deliverables
    • Learn from managers and seniors by being open to feedback, coaching, and technical guidance
    • Gain proficiency with our delivery tools and service enablers, and take part in planning and executing small-scale to large-scale, complex projects
    • Stay informed of professional standards and firm policies (e.g., guidelines of the EY Assurance Advisory Quality & Risk Management Manual)

Skills and attributes for success

  • A university degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, or equivalent
  • 0-3 years of relevant work experience
  • Fluency in English and French; additional languages like German, Italian or Spanish are an asset
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and regulatory requirements
  • Strong interest in financial accounting advisory services
  • Curiosity and initiative to understand client needs and contribute to delivering practical, tailored solutions

Additional attributes for Success

  • Knowledge of IFRS and/or Luxembourg accounting law
  • Familiarity with Luxembourg’s prudential reporting framework and EU banking regulations
  • Time management skills, handling of multiple tasks and engagements simultaneously while maintaining quality, and the capacity to work under tight deadlines
  • Proficiency in office-related computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience or interest in reviewing financial statements
  • Good verbal communication skills and a proactive attitude
  • Good writing and synthesizing skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills to begin building professional relationships with clients and colleagues
