The opportunity

EY is looking for an Assistant Manager for Tax – Global Compliance and Reporting (GCR) practice. As a part of this team, you will be required to manage and monitor day to day operations related to client's engagements, possess complete knowledge of managing core Accounting & compliance functions.

 

Your key responsibilities

  • Maintain a portfolio of clients, prioritise and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Lead and Manage end to end tax audits for the client including liaison with Auditors & clients, follow up for audit issues, manage correspondence with tax authorities on behalf of clients and implement corrective action if any.
  • Ensure clients’ compliance with Zambian tax requirements, including Income Tax, Value Added Tax (VAT), Withholding Tax, Pay-As-You-Earn (PAYE), and other statutory obligations.
  • Coordinate and oversee the delivery of tax compliance services, ensuring exceptional quality and client satisfaction.
  • Provide ongoing support to clients regarding day-to-day tax compliance and reporting queries.
  • Review and oversee the accurate preparation and submission of tax returns and statutory filings to the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA).
  • Stay current with evolving Zambian tax laws, statutory instruments, and international tax trends.
  • Train and mentor junior staff on technical tax matters and best practices.
  • Identify tax risks and exposures for clients and advise on mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records in compliance with regulatory requirements and firm policies.

 

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field
  • Professional certification such as ACCA, CIMA, ZICA, or equivalent.
  • All academic qualifications must be ZAQA certified.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Zambian tax framework, including Income Tax Act, Property Transfer Tax Act, VAT Act, Transfer Pricing regulations, and other relevant statutes
  • Minimum of 4 years related work experience
  • Experience in managing client facing finance team preferably in a Consulting organization or well diversified Industry experience
  • Work experience in an ERP environment would be preferred
