And we’re counting on your unique voice and perspective to help EY become even better, too. Join us and build an exceptional experience for yourself, and a better working world for all.

EY’s EMEIA Tax Center (ETC) team is unique: we are the only Big 4 professional services firm with a dedicated center of excellence focused on delivering exceptional client service for accounting and tax across borders. Our talented ETC professionals are based in multiple countries across Europe, the Middle East, India and Africa (EMEIA), and work with clients across the area, regardless of our location or theirs. We provide specialist tax, accounting and technology expertise to address clients’ most pressing challenges in an exciting, dynamic environment, through a broad range of innovative service offerings.

Our Statutory Reporting team support clients with transforming and operating their accounting and reporting processes across multiple countries. Our professionals combine a blend of deep accounting process discipline and technical accounting expertise to deliver consistently high-quality financial statements across the world.

The opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join the ETC’s Statutory Reporting team to lead engagements with global clients, leading pursuits for new business and play a lead role in driving EY’s global transformation program. This is a transformational leadership role, and we are committed to helping the successful candidate accelerate their career development.

Client engagements include full managed services for statutory reporting, where our teams support the bridging from group accounting to local accounting standards and preparation of locally-compliant financial statements; they also include a range of advisory services to support clients with the redesign of their statutory reporting operating model, deployment of accounting technology, and support with technical accounting issues.

Tax Smart Delivery is EY’s global transformation program with the goal of centralising, standardising and automating our compliance services – to drive efficiency into our service delivery model and value for our clients.

Your key responsibilities

  • Client service: You will be serving as the lead for statutory reporting engagements for global clients – responsible for deploying our globally-consistent and centrally-driven financial statement preparation process. This will involve fostering strong relationships with client executives up to CFO/Controller level, as well as our EY teams across the world. It will also involve you identifying and delivering transformation opportunities both for EY teams and our clients.
  • Pursuits: You will be playing a lead role on pursuits – working with cross-functional Tax and Finance teams across EY to identify, pursue and win new engagements – again with a focus on building relationships with key client stakeholders.
  • Transformation: You will play a lead role in the design and deployment of EY’s global transformation program for statutory reporting – Tax Smart Delivery. This will involve design and deployment of technology solutions to automate our delivery process (including Caseware for financial statement preparation); deployment of standard processes to drive global consistency; and development of our Center of Excellence people model to support delivery across multiple locations.

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • 10-15 years of finance experience – with a track record of driving transformation and change in industry or a professional services organisation
  • Comfort working with ambiguity or imperfect information
  • Experience of developing strong relationships with senior client stakeholders, including Chief Accounting Officer/Controller
  • Ability to manage multiple teams and stakeholders efficiently; experience of working with overseas teams in particular different cultures
  • Finance transformation/process improvement experience – ability to identify and explore solutions that result in the appropriate balance of efficiency and quality
  • Strong grounding in US GAAP or IFRS
  • Understanding of key ERP and associated technologies relating to financial reporting

Desirable additional skills & experience

  • Experience of working with and supporting implementation of common software solutions that support global reporting, for example Thomson Reuters OneSource, Caseware, Workiva
  • GAAP conversion experience
  • Cross-border transactions experience
  • Ability to synthesize different accounting requirements of various GAAP and analyze the impact to group policies
  • Foreign language capability
  • Understanding of complementary processes related to global reporting, eg tax structures, IT strategy, finance organization
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Experience of working with other accounting frameworks
