Senior Manager – Pensions Strategy Consulting  
EY is accelerating the growth of our Pensions Strategy Consulting team.  We and are looking for self-starting, diligent individuals with a strong consultancy background, and who can contribute to our growth and be part of a successful wider business with a strong, established brand.    


Our clients comprise corporates, trustees, capital providers and lenders, insurers and other financial services providers, government, policymakers and regulators.  We help our clients solve their pension challenges and capture their pension opportunities in the context of their wider business or pension fund needs.  Our pension consultants work with colleagues from a range of different backgrounds and expertise within a multi-disciplinary and cross-industry environment. 


The opportunity    
We have ambitious aspirations to grow our consulting business.  We seek quality people with core pensions knowledge and consulting skills who have demonstrable experience of building trusted and lasting relationships with CFOs of corporate sponsors, pension managers, trustees, deal makers and pension providers. 


We are seeking individuals with expertise in any combination of the following areas: 

  • Corporate pensions strategy 
  • Pension aspects of corporate M&A 
  • Pension end-game solutions 
  • Pension risk transfer transactions 
  • Pension fund operational and governance excellence 
  • Fiduciary management advisory 
  • ESG issues for pension funds 
  • Leveraging corporate and pension data for value, including deploying data, analytics and reporting insights 


Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Be visible in the market, make things happen, build and leverage client relationships 
  • Drive and lead marketing initiatives 
  • Build effective relationships both in the market and within and through the wide-ranging EY network 
  • Build and leverage key relationships with clients and oversee EY’s advice to them 
  • Lead client projects and delegate work effectively 
  • Provide meaningful and valuable opinions leading to superior outcomes for our clients 
  • Represent pensions expertise and outcomes within larger multi-disciplinary projects 
  • Play your part in developing intellectual property to support delivering superior outcomes for client and firm 
  • Develop team members through mentoring, feedback and training, and by embracing people of diverse backgrounds and skills, making our workplace inclusive to all, resulting in better outcomes for clients and firm 
  • Manage and mitigate risks, recognising complexity and ambiguity, in collaboration with others 
  • Maintain our very high professional standards 


To qualify for the role, you must have:      

  • Relationships and contacts in the market that you’re able to leverage 
  • Relevant consulting experience and track-record 
  • Comfort and a track-record with building client relationships 
  • Comfort and enthusiasm for dealing with complexity and ambiguity, recognising the world is changing fast and unpredictably and will continue to change even faster 
  • A self-starter, can-do attitude with energy and willingness to try new things 
  • Demonstratable initiative and creativity 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills 
  • Passion to work with people from a diverse range of abilities, backgrounds and disciplines 
  • Knowledge of the UK pensions environment 
  • Good commercial acumen and awareness 
  • Proven track record of delivering high quality outcomes for your clients and firm 
  • Demonstrable stakeholder and project management skills
