At EY, you’ll have the chance to build a career as unique as you are, with the global scale, support, inclusive culture and technology to become the best version of you. And we’re counting on your unique voice and perspective to help EY become even better, too. Join us and build an exceptional experience for yourself, and a better working world for all.

Senior Manager, Pensions Investment (Corporate Investment Consulting)

The EY Pensions Investment Team is expanding and growing. Our growth plans extend across Fiduciary Management Oversight (‘FMO’), Provider Consulting and Corporate Investment Consulting (‘CIC’). Our particular focus on leadership candidates to push ahead the next phase of growth, which is to at least double in all these areas within 2 years. The CIC business in particular is an early-stage opportunity with the potential to build a business that on its own exceeds £5m a year, by partnering closely with the Corporate Pensions Consulting business, and leveraging the vast network of C-suite relationships at EY

We work closely with a number of sister business units across EY and within EY Actuarial, including: the EY’s Pension Consulting team, the Covenant consulting team, the Life insurance investment consulting team and the Wealth & Asset Management team. This collaboration provides unique opportunities to our people and brings differentiated valuable insights and outcomes to our clients.

We want people who are not just great technicians but extra-ordinary consultants: people who can build networks, spot industry trends, solve industry problems, even define industry problems, and make things happen. If you are interested, please read on and apply.

The opportunity

We are seeking high-performing people to build out our CIC team advising UK corporates on their strategic investment issues in the broadest sense; and to coalesce the investment pockets of excellence into a cohesive content-rich package. This is an opportunity to grow a new area, translate this to a range of different client types and work with our sister businesses in Actuarial on investment matters.

You will also be heavily involved in shaping the wider EY investment consulting proposition as it incorporates the FMO trend for pension schemes, as well as deploying this expertise into our provider proposition as we seek to improve the quality of providers service offerings for the societal greater good.

EY has extensive links with many of the largest corporates and asset managers in the world, which enables our people to meaningfully impact the investment governance and investment operating model agenda, markets and society.

Your key responsibilities

• Win new clients working with the corporate consulting team

• Lead and oversee the strategic investment research and thought leadership agenda for CIC

• Lead thought leadership as it relates to CIC

• Pivoting your investment knowledge to delivering to broader client segments

• Build impactful and fruitful networks within the EY family – within wider Pensions, wider Actuarial, wider Financial Service Consulting, and beyond.

• Contribute to the overall growth of the pensions investment team, the pensions team, and wider Actuarial investment teams

• Be an expert within the actuarial team on CIC and investment content

• Work closely with colleagues to create a positive learning culture and coach and counsel junior team members

Attributes for success

• Comfort with change and uncertainty in a fast-moving, complex and ambiguous world

• Curiosity and passion to build relationships, with clients and colleagues

• Intellectual curiosity

• Comfort in taking ownership and accountability

• Strong communication skills, verbal, written but also active listening

• Proactive in understanding best practices in a fast-moving area

• Self-starter attitude who can drive projects forward independently with enthusiasm and creativity

• Can-do attitude

To qualify for the role you must have this track record

We welcome applicants from a wide range of backgrounds and are particularly interested in individuals that have the following track record:

• Proven success in consulting to corporates on pension investment matters

• Ability to win new corporate relationships, and on-sell additional wider work

• Proven track record in developing thought leadership in CIC and investment content space

• Deep investment knowledge across the broad range of asset classes

• Ability to think strategically and from multiple perspectives

• Ability to build trusting, sustained relationships with clients and colleagues

• Ability to lead a team, openly sharing information and expertise, demonstrate initiative and build good working relationships

• Understanding of broader pensions issues

• Strong academic record including a degree

• Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels

• Experience providing CIC advice to complex clients alongside strategic pensions, actuarial and covenant advice

• Desire to not only help deliver projects but shape EY’s proposition and enhance our market reputation
