The UK government’s “UK Infrastructure: A 10 Year Strategy” sets out a long-term, cross-sector plan to drive economic growth, deliver net zero, and improve public services. With a £725 billion commitment, the strategy prioritises stability, private investment, and robust delivery across transport, energy, digital, water, housing, and social infrastructure. Sustainable infrastructure will play a critical role in delivering this strategy. The opportunity

Advising clients on their most complex sustainable infrastructure challenges, is a core focus for EY, and something that spans multiple sectors and competencies. We are focused on growing our sustainable infrastructure programme focus and large-scale transformation delivery across our wide range of clients within a variety of sectors, including Government, Transport, Energy and Utilities, Housing and Telecommunications. We are looking to grow our overall presence across the infrastructure sector and be involved in the design, development and delivery of significant programmes under the recently published UK Infrastructure 10 Year Strategy.

 

We are seeking a Senior Manager level Consultant with experience leading business change and organisation design in Infrastructure. As a Senior Manager, you will be a leader in a client facing team on complex transformation programmes for leading organisations across UK&I, delivering change and organisation design to drive better business, environmental and people outcomes for long-lasting results. Now more than ever, clients want to understand how change affects their people. As part of the team, you will be skilled at helping clients take a ‘human centred’ approach to achieve successful transformation. Using the latest innovations, you will partner with clients on their biggest challenges to find people-centric solutions that work for their organisation - from implementing culture, new operating models, technology and people change to communication strategies and leadership development.

Your key responsibilities

  • Active member ofthe wider leadership teamto defineproject scopeandexecute deliverywith clients, the consulting teams and wider stakeholders 
  • Independently analysing complex problemsandpresenting solutionsto clients and the wider team 
  • Own and manage relationships with senior infrastructure clients to contribute to business development and enhancing EY’s brand and reputation
  • Structuring and managing projectsand programmes of transformation 
  • Managing projectcommercials, risks and issues 
  • Bringing expertise from previous experience to test, shape and challenge our approaches to project delivery
  • Leading teams and developing our peopleto help them reach their potential 
  • Buildingstrong relationships, especially with peers and leaders from client organisations and across the EY network 
  • Building our business and generating profitable revenue bywinning workthroughfostering strong client relationships, account leadership and leading/contributing to proposals 
  • Contributinginnovative ideasto expand our People Consulting service & Infrastructure service offerings to clients and positively impact client engagements 
  • Keepingup to date on relevant infrastructure market trends, keyfunctional and technical skillsand proactivelysharing this knowledgewith the infrastructure community
  • Being anactive leader in the EY Workforce Advisory Community and the EY UK&I Infrastructure Community, assisting with the integration and inclusion of team members and operating as a part of ahigh performing team 
  • Visibly demonstrating our values through yourday-to-day behavioursand challenging where these are not demonstrated in others 
  • Contribute to EY’s positioning across the UK (and global) infrastructure market, through an active social media presence, and thought leadership development

 Skills and attributes for success

  • A strong understanding of, and interest in, the UK Infrastructure sector including HMG commitments such as National Infrastructure Strategy and Ten Point Plan for a Green Industrial Revolution. 
  • Knowledge of sustainability and climate change challenges across industries 
  • Knowledge of one or more of the following sectors: Energy, Government, Transport, Power and Utilities
  • Strong commercial acumen and experience in managing commercial side of projects
  • Expertise in business development, including identifying opportunities, shaping and selling propositions and contributing to pipeline development
  • Passionate about working withclientsto find people-centred solutions 
  • Beprofessional, quickly establishing personal credibilityand demonstrating expertise 
  • Resilientand able to workunder pressureto deliverpragmatic solutionsthat are acceptable to all stakeholders

 To qualify for the role, you will need:

  • This role is available in our EY London, Birmingham, Manchester or Leeds offices
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification or experience
  • Minimum 8 years of professional experience either within the infrastructure sector or in a consultancy role leading complex organisational design transformations and end-to-end business change
  • Able tomanage the client change and organisation design journeyby developing and delivering digital and/or organisational strategies supported by integrated change experience and organisation design roadmaps and business cases 
  • Demonstrable commercial management skills and acumen across large programmes, including contribution to account growth, pipeline development and sales activity
  • Able to turn complex quantitative and qualitative data analysis into acompelling narrativeto support project delivery 
  • Strong leadership- be able to anticipate and manage potential issues during client assignments, providing visible thought leadership internally and with our clients
  • Lead by exampleand actively demonstrate professionalism and the ability to rapidly establish personal credibility to make a strong personal impact 
  • The ability toproactively build relationshipsand manage client stakeholders, including providingrobust advice, delivering difficult messagesand managing performance issues 
  • Delivereffective organisational design and change managementto enable/enhance workforce performance, engagement and wellbeing 
  • Contribute to market-facing thought leadership, insights and points of view that support EY’s growth agenda and differentiate our propositions
  • Strong insightinto one or more of the following: Government & Infrastructure Sector, Energy & Assets, Consumer Products, Technology & Communications 
  • Knowledge of/experience in any of the following technologies and their organisational implications: 
    • ERP systems(e.g., SAP Solutions Suite (SAP S/4Hana preferred), Microsoft Dynamics) 
    • Emerging technologies(e.g., AI, Big Data, RPA, IoT, Blockchain) and enabling software (e.g., Blue Prism) 
    • Other ‘people’ experience enhancement technologies and providers 

 

Ideally, you will also have:

  • Experience of leading design thinking and human-centred design methods
  • A strong awareness of the latest infrastructure industry and technology trends
  • Project Management skills (Microsoft Project/Prince 2)
  • An understanding on how Agentic AI can add value to businesses and the Infrastructure sector
