The indirect tax transformation team works with a variety of organisations across all sectors. The business has been growing year on year and to seize the opportunities available in the market, the team requires new talent.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and ambitious individual to join EY’s specialist Indirect Tax Transformation team, with a focus on data services. This role will provide an opportunity to be involved in a fast growth part of the UKI Tax practice. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to work with significant multinational clients and to engage with our global EY network, providing a great opportunity to build and expand your corporate network.

We are looking for a senior leader with extensive experience delivering large-scale eInvoicing, tax technology, and digital compliance transformation programmes. The successful candidate will lead strategic client engagements, drive market growth, develop team capabilities, and oversee complex global implementations across multiple jurisdictions.

Your key responsibilities 

  • Lead large-scale eInvoicing and digital tax transformation programmes from strategy through implementation.
  • Define engagement approach, delivery methodology, governance structure, and overall programme roadmap.
  • Serve as the primary trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders across Tax, Finance, Technology, Procurement, and Operations.
  • Lead solution architecture discussions covering SAP DRC, Vertex, PEPPOL, CTC mandates, and digital reporting requirements.
  • Drive assessment of regulatory changes and define strategic compliance roadmaps for clients.
  • Oversee programme risks, dependencies, escalations, budgets, quality assurance, and stakeholder communications.
  • Lead client proposals, business development activities, market initiatives, and go-to-market offerings.
  • Build and maintain relationships with alliance partners, technology vendors, and key client stakeholders.
  • Develop, coach, and mentor Managers, Senior Consultants, and junior team members.
  • Drive capability development, innovation, thought leadership, and creation of reusable assets and methodologies.
  • Support practice growth through recruitment, talent development, and strategic planning.

Skills and attributes for success 

 What we look for

  • Deep understanding of global eInvoicing, CTC, eReporting, and tax digitization requirements.
  • Significant experience leading complex tax technology, ERP transformation, or digital compliance programmes.
  • Proven track record managing multiple project teams and workstreams simultaneously.
  • Extensive experience with SAP DRC, SAP S/4HANA, Vertex, PEPPOL networks, Pagero, EDICOM, or similar solutions.
  • Strong programme management and executive stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience defining operating models, governance frameworks, and transformation roadmaps.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and business development capabilities.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage client relationships at executive level.

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Experience designing enterprise integration architectures involving APIs, EDI, middleware, and third-party networks.
  • Strong understanding of indirect tax processes, VAT reporting, and global compliance frameworks.
  • Experience leveraging automation, AI, and analytics within tax transformation programmes.
  • Experience leading global or multi-country implementations.
  • Previous consulting leadership experience within a major professional services or technology consulting organisation.
  • Relevant certifications in programme management, ERP solutions, or tax technology.
