The opportunity

The macro environment – economics, policy, politics, geopolitics – is today a bigger driver of business performance than in many decades, and has firmly sailed to the top of board and CEO agendas.

We work on some of the most complex and interconnected global challenges and opportunities facing businesses today – from the changing geopolitical landscape to the fiscal outlook and the energy transition – translating macro movements into actions to protect and enhance business value, across growth strategy, transactions and restructuring.

Our team includes economists, engineers, finance professionals and  former Government advisors mixing macro, sector and operational experience.

Key Responsibilities

You'll advise clients across all sectors supporting key decision makers in developing and executing strategies to manage various macro challenges and opportunities, with a strong focus on translating these challenges into action plans across a range of different engagements including supply chain, greenfield projects, pre-deal (unlocking policy dependencies, carve out blue prints), post-deal (integration planning, tracking), business cases and impact assessments, growth strategies and market entry, energy strategy, scenario planning and restructuring (incl rapid cost reduction).

This is a strongly entrepreneurial role involving growing the business and advising clients against the backdrop of non-linear but market-changing macro trends across money (inflation, interest rates), energy transition, sustainability, globalisaton and technology. A commercial mind-set is key to this consulting based role.

Skills and Attributes for success

  • Project Management – be part of project teams comprising colleagues from our transactions and advisory practices
  • Business and Commercially Driven – working in a fast-paced, exciting environment with the ability to work through ambiguity
  • Intellectual curiosity – with a strong desire to find new data, patterns and correlations to help clients look a lot deeper than the headlines; strong desire to continuously learn
  • Strategic mind-set – ability to connect dots and cross-pollinate across a number of different drivers and forces; ability to identify “net effects” and avoid looking in siloes
  • Business economics – grasp of P&L, cash flow and cost of capital
  • Commercial origination; assist in researching and writing reports, preparing pitches and presentations, and attending meetings with clients to help sell work; as well as client and media events / interactions
  • Building Relationships - Strong working relationships with senior clients, including influence, advice and support to key decision makers

To qualify for the role you must have specialism in at least two of these areas:

  • Professional services / consulting
  • Strong analytical skills and financial acumen
  • Macro economics, policy and geopolitics

 Ideally you’ll also have

  • Experience of delivering high-quality reports and presentations
  • Strong team participation skills, particularly teams with diverse skills and backgrounds,
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Strong work initiative and the ability to adapt to new challenges and ideas
  • Professionalism and consistency in approach to client work, internal business and practice development projects

What we are looking for

We are looking for candidates who are highly motivated, driven, and have a passion to be part of a fast-paced, successful transaction team. Being a strong team player is also important as well as someone who is happy to work flexibly over a number of client deals across the UK and Globally.
