The opportunity


With the continuing and rapid development of tax technology solutions and in particular Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solutions, it is necessary to enhance our operational models to achieve success in the future. In preparation for the future, EY Tax and Law have created a new “Centre of Excellence” (CoE) to support SaaS solutions throughout their lifecycle. 


The objectives of the SaaS CoE are twofold: 

  • Operational management of Tax and Law SaaS solutions and 
  • Sales enablement and support to drive the market success of these solutions. 

 

The SaaS CoE currently supports Tax and Lax solutions Global VAT Reporting Tool (GVRT), Mandatory Disclosure Regime (MDR), Web Data Permissions Navigator (DPN) and the newly deployed Global Tax E-invoicing Solution (GTES), with this number of solutions is expected to grow rapidly. 


In joining the SaaS CoE, you will have an exciting opportunity to contribute to the ongoing success of this new business unit, becoming deeply embedded in the operational management of the SaaS CoE and thus ensuring the smooth running of the technology solutions that it supports.

 

Your key responsibilities


EY is looking for a Functional Lead to help develop and manage its ground-breaking product GTES, which looks to reimagine how our clients can manage their global e-invoicing and e-reporting obligations in this dynamic and rapidly growing area. As part of our new Global SaaS business, you will work with our Product Owner and Technical Lead to develop GTES from proof-of-concept to production. 


The Functional Lead for GTES will be responsible for leading the functional aspects of the solution, including compliance with the global tax technical requirements of e-invoicing. The Functionals Lead will also oversee and coordinate operational activities pertaining to the smooth operation and deployment of the GTES within EY.


The successful candidate will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to define functional requirements and ensure alignment with the overall product strategy. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in tax e-invoicing solutions, as well as indirect tax reporting and tax regulations in the context of e-invoicing.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide significant functional expertise on e-invoicing regulations and tax laws globally, and how best to address these as part of the product strategy and solution design
  • Lead cross-functional, multi-national teams in defining and documenting functional requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria  
  • Conduct regular functional testing of the product to identify areas for improvement and ensure that requirements are met  
  • Together with other members of the product team provide informed input into solution design from a functional perspective, ensuring that functional requirements are aligned with overall business and product strategy 
  • Oversee functional requirements gathering and testing, including working with local countries
  • Own the functional aspect of the product backlog, ensuring that it is prioritized based on business value and customer feedback
  • Work with the GTES Product Owner and Technical Lead to ensure that product features are functionality and technically feasible
  • Collaborate with the development team to ensure product features are delivered on time and within budget
  • Work with other team members to review and/or develop training and support materials to ensure customers and end-users understand how to use the product
  • Act as a key point of contact for external and internal stakeholders for any e-invoicing related queries or issues
  • Support the GTES Product Owner with the development of go-to-market materials for GTES, covering product specifications
  • Support on aspects of operational management of GTES, including:
    • Maintain solution compliance with internal processes and controls such as Tax Quality, Independence, Tax Technology Approvals Roadmap
    • Work in conjunction with local countries on business cases to support investment decisions
    • Monitor assorted product specific Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), such as client numbers, pipeline, revenue  
    • Produce regular reports and deliverables on business side performance and/or metrics for reporting to key stakeholders and committees

 

Skills and attributes for success


We are looking for people with excellent communication abilities with relevant experience in a commercial position.

 

  • Confidence and maturity to work effectively with senior leaders across the Business Unit and beyond 
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Knowledge of the software development cycle and project management methodologies, an advantage
  • Proven relationship management abilities to work effectively with clients, project teams and vendor across multiple geographies
  • Flexibility to adjust to multiple demands, shifting priorities, ambiguity, and rapid change
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision making
  • Strong organization skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize effectively 
  • Ability to work and team with a multitude of different people from various parts of the Business and IT
  • Possess a high energy level, sense of urgency, decisiveness, and an ability to work well under pressure

 

To qualify for the role, you must have

 

  • 5+ years’ experience in Indirect Tax or functional product management within a large global organization, ideally focusing on e-invoicing or related solutions
  • Strong understanding of the e-invoicing landscape and related technologies
  • Significant knowledge of Indirect Tax reporting requirements globally (VAT/GST etc.) and tax regulations in the context of e-invoicing  
  • A familiarity with Agile development methodology would be advantageous, but not essential   
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office applications


Ideally, you’ll also have

 

  • Work experience in a professional services industry
  • Familiarity of EY internal processes would be an advantage
  • Prior experience on other e-invoicing products would be helpful
  • Certifications in Microsoft technology stack would be advantageous to this role
