Senior Financial Services PR and Media Relations Manager, UK&I
Level 4 Associate Director, reports to Head of UK Corporate Communications and UK&I Financial Services BMC Leader
The opportunity:
As a Senior Manager in the Communications team, you will lead the development of proactive external communications campaigns that enhance and protect the reputation of EY in the media and with key external stakeholders.
You will act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders and will be a Pillar Lead in the UK Financial Services business, working collaboratively with colleagues from across Brand, Marketing and Communications (BMC) to build campaigns that support the firm’s commercial objectives.
This role offers an accomplished communications professional the opportunity to build and strengthen the profile of our senior leaders, shape our external narratives and produce work with impact.
The role will report to the Head of UK Corporate Communications and the UK & Ireland Financial Services BMC Leader and will contribute to a high performing team culture.
Your key responsibilities:
- Lead the external communications strategy for our UK Financial Services business, building the profile of our senior leaders around content and narratives that support the firm’s commercial objectives.
- Advise the firm’s senior leaders on communications strategy and reputation management, offering clear recommendations and constructive challenge when needed.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across Brand, Marketing and Communications to develop and build compelling campaigns that reach a targeted audience, ensuring messages remain aligned across all channels.
- Build and maintain effective journalist relationships, and ensure senior leaders are appropriately prepared for press engagements.
- Contribute to an inclusive and high performing communications function, supporting the development of colleagues across the team and sharing best practice.
Skills and attributes for success:
- Hands-on experience of advising senior executives and leadership.
- Ability to work collaboratively and influence across a complex, matrixed organisation, pulling on skills from across the firm as required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail.
- Self-motivated, proactive and ambitious for the team, our leaders, and the firm
- Experience delivering high-quality work at pace.
To qualify for the role you must have:
- Proven experience of creating and executing external communications strategies that support business objectives.
- A deep understanding of PR and media relations tactics, including social media and issues management.
- Strong stakeholder management skills.
- Proven ability of forming effective working relationships with journalists and other external influencers.
- People management skills – a strong team player and lateral thinker, comfortable working collaboratively, virtually and independently.
Ideally, you’ll also have:
- Experience of managing media relations and corporate communications for large and complex organisations.
- Understanding and knowledge of the Financial Services sector, including banking and capital markets, insurance, and wealth and asset management.
