Economic Advisory – AD – Macroeconomics

 

Role overview

 

Ernst and Young's Economic Advisory team is a part of our Valuation, Modelling and Economics practice and is made up of c. 45 professionals working across multiple sectors.  

 

Our Macroeconomics and Policy team is a core part of our business, where we seek to assist and inform commercial and policy decision making through the application of economic techniques for both private and public sector clients.

 

We are seeking to appoint a Assistant Director to help us grow the practice, with particular focus on areas such as:

 

  • Development and interpretation of macroeconomic forecasts, scenarios and associated corporate performance analysis and stress testing
  • Quantitative analysis of geopolitical and macroeconomic trends e.g., sustainability, international trade, COVID recovery
  • Evaluating economic policy decisions and conducting impact assessments in sectors including government and infrastructure, energy and resources, consumer products, and digital and tech

Responsibilities 

 

  • Business development – bringing with you and/or developing a network of contacts across the public and private sector 
  • Sales – leading the development of competitive and non-competitive bids
  • External communications – comfortable in presenting to and engaging with clients and other stakeholders in both a client delivery context, but also on wider macro-economic developments  
  • Developing a strong internal network within EY
  • Leading projects with minimal oversight
  • Reviewing and quality assuring the work of junior staff
  • Making a contribution to the wider practice

 

Experience

 

  • Several years’ experience working as an economist (in consultancy, financial services, or government) with a focus on macro-economics
  • Experience of utilising quantitative (economic, econometric, statistical) techniques 
  • Knowledge of the main economic data sources, and ability to source data and tell a story with the data
  • Leading teams (required)
  • Delivering projects to time and budget (required)
  • Experience of transactions
  • Consulting experience (desirable)
  • Commercial/sales experience (desirable)
