This role is for an experienced Broadcast Operator, part of a Global Virtual Events Team. The Operator will participate in live broadcasting responsibilities and technical advisory for broadcast experiences. Experience in corporate Live Studio broadcasting events and virtual/hybrid webcasts an asset.
 

Essential Functions of the Job

 

  • Supporting streaming media productions globally by working together with the production teams to deliver high quality experiences for our clients, both internal and external
  • Helping maintain broadcast and IT equipment within production studios (REMI) both centralized and mobile.
  • Provide technical advice and expertise to operational and program activities for live and video on-demand.
  • Respond to service disruption, whilst working proactively on preventing recurrence.
  • Involved in the design of strategic roadmap requirements for global delivery of streaming media.
  • Analytical/Decision Making Responsibilities: 
  • Proactively anticipates service issues before they occur and able to make recommendations around resolution.
  • Taking part in projects as a subject matter expert or as a representative of the service owner.
  • Sound analytical and problem-solving skills are required to manage multiple technical challenges from multiple services and projects simultaneously
  • Evaluate recommendations provided for service improvements, with the ability to identify any gaps or alternate solutions.
  • Able to deliver engineering work independently or in (virtual) team globally.
     

Knowledge and Skills Requirements

 

  • Essential 
  • Demonstrable experience in supporting video Live/Post-Production systems.
    • Demonstrable experience of working with digital audio/video workstations, mixing/switching consoles such as vMix, Wirecast, Grass Valley, Ross, and BlackMagic Design. Systems used in editing such as Adobe Premier / Davinci Resolve
    • Experience of working within a Live Studio environment as well as experience of supporting Television Studios with cameras and studio infrastructure.
  • Beneficial
    • Understanding of CDN and eCDN services such as Akamai, Limelight, Fastly and Hive.
    • Knowledge in encoding and transcoding fundamentals including H.265, H.265, and AV1
    • Proficiency in RTMP, Restream, Wowza
    • Knowledge of Digital Asset Management Technologies
  • Supervision Responsibilities:
    • No direct supervision responsibilities for this role, but ability to set up network of technical and non-technical contacts across teams to get solutions delivered.

 

Other Requirements

 

  • Candidate must be flexible to the demands of the services we provide and any project to which they are assigned.
  • The role may require out of office hours work. 
  • Hybrid: 2 days in office, 3 days remote (REMI)

 

Job Requirements

 

  • Education:
    • Post-secondary education in Broadcast or IT Technology / Computer Sciences
  • Experience:
    • At least 2 to 4 years or more working in Live Studio Production experience
    • Knowledge in Broadcast signal path, acquisition, and delivery
  • Certification Requirements:
    • CCNA Cisco Network Qualifications
    • SBE Certifications
