The opportunity

EY Financial Services Consulting supports leading financial institutions in addressing complex risk, regulatory and data challenges. Our Financial Services Risk Management (FSRM) team combines risk expertise, quantitative analytics and technology to deliver high-impact, data-driven solutions.

As a Senior Consultant, you will play a key role in projects with a strong analytical and programming focus, using Python and SAS as core tools to develop, automate and enhance risk models, analytics and regulatory solutions across the financial services sector.

 

Your key responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain analytical and quantitative solutions with a strong emphasis on Python and SAS
  • Perform data extraction, transformation and analysis on large and complex datasets from financial institutions
  • Develop, automate and enhance risk models, calculations and reporting processes using Python and SAS
  • Support model development, validation and monitoring activities (e.g. credit risk, market risk, capital, IFRS 9, stress testing)
  • Build robust, efficient and reusable Python and SAS code aligned with best practices
  • Translate regulatory and business requirements into technical and analytical implementations
  • Prepare high-quality technical documentation, analysis outputs and client-ready deliverables
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (risk, regulatory, technology and business)
  • Provide technical guidance and coaching to junior team members

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • 3+ years of professional experience with Python and SAS, preferably in a financial services or consulting context
  • Strong practical experience in:
    • Python (pandas, numpy, scripting, automation, analytical workflows)
    • SAS (data processing, analytical procedures, risk calculations, reporting)
    • Experience working with large datasets and complex data structures
    • Academic background in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Economics, Finance, Computer Science or similar
    • Good understanding of risk management or regulatory analytics applied to financial institutions
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English

 

Ideally, you will also have

  • Experience applying Python and SAS to regulatory or risk topics (e.g. IRB, IFRS 9, stress testing, capital calculations)
  • Knowledge of SQL, databases or data warehousing
  • Exposure to model validation or advanced analytics
  • Experience in consulting or Big 4 environments
  • Interest in expanding skills towards automation, scalability and advanced analytics
