The opportunity
EY is seeking a Data Engineer Senior Consultant specializing in Data Engineering and Architecture to join our team and support organizations in the Financial Services sector (Banking and Insurance).
In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, building, and maintaining robust data infrastructures that support our clients' data-driven initiatives. During implementation, you will collect, aggregate, and analyse structured/unstructured data from multiple internal and external sources, present patterns and insights, and scale data for use in ML and AI use cases.
You will collaborate with business stakeholders to ensure the availability, reliability, and quality of data necessary for informed decision-making.

You will collaborate with our team on the following assignments:
•Designing and implementing scalable data pipelines and architectures.
•Integrating and transforming data from various sources to support analytics and AI initiatives.
•Ensuring data quality, governance, and security across all data processes.
•Monitoring and optimizing data workflows for performance and reliability.
Your key responsibilities
•Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and architectures to support data-driven initiatives.
•Collaborate with Cloud Solution Architects to implement complex end-to-end enterprise solutions on cloud platforms.
•Support the strategy, planning, and implementation of data design services, providing sizing and configuration assistance, and performing needs assessments.
•Develop and maintain data lake and data warehouse schematics, layouts, architectures, and relational/non-relational databases for data access and advanced analytics.
•Engage with customers to understand their overall data estate, IT and business priorities, and success measures to design implementation architectures and solutions.
•Assess customers' knowledge of cloud data platforms and overall cloud data readiness, supporting them through a structured learning plan and ensuring its delivery.
•Collect, aggregate, and analyse structured and unstructured data from multiple internal and external sources, presenting patterns and insights.
•Scale data for use in machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) use cases.
•Implement data integration, transformation, and storage solutions to facilitate analytics and AI projects.
•Optimize data workflows for performance, reliability, and scalability, ensuring efficient processing of large volumes of data.
•Ensure compliance with data privacy, security, and regulatory requirements in all data engineering activities.

To qualify for the role, you must have
•A Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or a related discipline.
•Over 2 years of professional experience in data engineering, data architecture, or a related field.
•Proven experience in designing and implementing scalable data pipelines and architectures.
•Strong understanding of ETL, ELT, data ingestion, cleansing, and engineering skills.
•Hands-on experience with data integration, transformation, and storage solutions.
•Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in data engineering, such as Python, SQL, or PySpark.
•Highly recognized knowledge of Azure Databricks, PySpark, SQL, and/or Python.
•Experience and knowledge in Data Ingestion and Storage, preferably with Azure Data Factory and Azure Data Lake.
•Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to optimize data workflows for performance and reliability.
•Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
•Full proficiency in English.
Ideally, you’ll also have
•Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka.
•Knowledge of data governance, data quality, and data security best practices.
•Familiarity with machine learning and AI concepts.
•Experience in mentoring and guiding junior team members.
•Microsoft and Databricks Certifications.
•Strong business acumen and the ability to understand and address business needs through data solutions
