SAP Manager 1,2 (Solution Architects - industry Specific - Oil and Gas)

EY Consulting is a fast-moving, high-growth area with huge potential. We are currently recruiting for a Manager to join our TechOps team. This team offers variety, challenge, responsibility and the opportunity to realize your leadership potential. We are seeking a highly accomplished and experienced S4 CoE (Center of Excellence) Lead to spearhead the Solution Design of various SAP Systems and governance activities for Oil and Gas Industry.
As a Solution Architect specializing in the Oil and Gas sector, you will play a pivotal role in designing innovative solutions that drive operational efficiency and enhance business performance. Your responsibilities will include analyzing complex business requirements, developing architectural blueprints and collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement technology solutions that align with industry standards.
To succeed in this role, you should possess a deep understanding of oil and gas operations, along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is required, with relevant certifications being a plus. Proficiency in industry-specific software and tools, as well as experience with cloud technologies, will be essential.
Your key responsibilities
- As a Senior Manager, you'll assist in developing applicable methodologies, tools, approaches, points of view, thought leadership and accelerators to differentiate EY in the ERP advisory market. These are shared with all EY market facing organizations to provide consistency and common platforms with which to go to market.
- Solution Design & Integration: Design solutions that integrate IT systems (like ERP and SAP) with Operational Technology (OT) systems (like SCADA and OSIsoft PI).
- Technology Alignment: Ensure solutions align with industry trends, energy transition goals, and client transformation roadmaps.
- Industry Compliance: Ensure all solution designs comply with enterprise architecture principles, security policies, and critical OT cybersecurity standards such as IEC 62443.
- Data & Analytics: Architect data flows from field sensors to cloud analytics platforms to enable real-time drilling optimization, production surveillance, and predictive maintenance using AI/ML.
- Stakeholder Management: Work closely with business analysts, project managers, and C-level executives to gather requirements, present architectural strategies, and build consensus.
- Policy and Procedure Development: Develop and implement comprehensive policies and procedures for SAP operations, ensuring adherence to industry best practices and organizational standards.
- Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Define, track, and manage key performance indicators for the SAP CoE and functional modules, ensuring alignment with business goals and continuous improvement.
- Team Leadership: Provide guidance, mentorship, and performance management to a diverse team of SAP analysts, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented work environment.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand requirements, align SAP strategies with business goals, and deliver effective solutions.
- Project Management: Lead SAP projects, ensuring timely delivery, budget adherence, and effective resource allocation to achieve project objectives.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization, automation, and enhancement of SAP functionalities to drive efficiency and effectiveness.
To qualify for the role you must have
- A Bachelor's or Master’s degree and 7-10 years of related work experience at minimum;
- A degree in computer science, accounting, finance or a related field (MBA or Business Undergraduate degree preferred). SAP certification/s highly preferred.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills, with a track record of leading diverse teams for at least 7 years.
- At minimum 7 to 10 years of experience working with any of the SAP modules below:-
- SAP FICO (Finance & Controlling)
- SAP SD (Sales & Distribution)
- SAP MM (Material Management)
- SAP PM (Plant Maintenance)
- SAP PS (Project System)
- Expert in status reporting to EY leadership and Client CXOs, managing governance, managing the team against the plan, escalating risks/issues/decisions/changes, budget management, etc.
- Experience: Proven experience designing and delivering technology solutions within the oil and gas industry or related heavy industrial sectors is essential.
- Domain Knowledge: Deep understanding of the hydrocarbon value chain (upstream, midstream, downstream) and related business processes.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and cloud-native services.
- Familiarity with key O&G software like SAP IS-Oil, AVEVA, OSIsoft PI, and SCADA systems.
- Knowledge of data architecture principles (data lakes, streaming data) and integration patterns (APIs, ETL).
- Understanding industry data standards like OSDU™, WITSML, and PRODML.
- Certifications: Solution Architecture certifications such as AWS/Azure/GCP Solution Architect or TOGAF are highly desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
