SAP BW/BOBI/BOBI Senior 1,2 TechOps (Application Management) Consultant

The Opportunity

We are looking for an SAP BW/BOBI/BOBI Senior to join the EY GDS Team. As part of our EY GDS – TechOps team, you will be responsible for providing functional support for SAP Order to Cash across various regions for our global clients. You will collaborate closely with cross functional teams to address issues, implement enhancements, and optimize design to meet business requirements.

To qualify for the role, you must have:

• Bachelor’s degree in related technology field (Computer, Engineering, Science, etc.) or comparable job experiences.
• 10+ of experience required in one or more areas within SAP BW/BOBI preferably with Global client in BW/BOBI architecture, data modeling (InfoObjects, InfoProviders, DSOs, CompositeProviders, HANA Modular Tool), & ETL processes.
• Responsible for providing support SAP BW/BOBI module incidents, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to analyze and resolve complex technical issues in a timely manner in a multi-region environment.
• Experience working in a global setting with multi-regional teams, understanding cultural nuances and time zone differences.
• Ability to manage cross functional and technical team, give them directions and drive technical discussions with various stake holders  
• Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills with the ability to work effectively in a global, cross functional team environment.
• Flexibility in managing work hours due to the volatile nature of Application Management work including ability to do shifts and being on call for critical business requirements
• Understanding of SAP Functional modules and business processes with the ability to translate business requirements and issues into technical solutions
• Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to analyze and resolve complex technical issues in a timely manner in a multi-region environment.
• Deep understanding of ITIL and ITSM processes and methodology and how it interacts with the application lifecycle management principles
• Proven track record of successfully driving solutions in a complex, multi-platform environment
• Extensive in client management working with various regions in a global setting
• Depth of experience in setting up, growing, transforming, and delivering application management teams
• Strong leadership and team building skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve excellence
• Strong client management, analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to think strategically and make data driven decisions

Ideally, you’ll also have:

System Administration & Maintenance

• Install, configure, and maintain SAP BW/BOBI systems on-prem.
• Apply patches, upgrades, and ensure system stability.
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues.

Data Modeling

• Design and implement InfoObjects, InfoProviders, DSOs, CompositeProviders, and MultiProviders.
• Create and maintain data models aligned with business requirements.
• Optimize data flows for performance and scalability.

ETL & Data Loading

• Develop and manage DataSources, Transformations, and DTPs.
• Schedule and monitor data loads from SAP and non-SAP sources.
• Handle error resolution and performance tuning in ETL processes.

Reporting & Analytics

• Support BEx Queries, workbooks, and integration with front-end tools (e.g., Analysis for Office).
• Collaborate with business teams to design and optimize reports.

Performance Optimization

• Tune BW/BOBI objects and queries for faster execution.
• Manage aggregates, partitions, and compression strategies.
• Support ABAP transformations within SAP BW/BOBI.

Security & Authorizations

• Implement and maintain authorization concepts for BW/BOBI users.
• Ensure compliance with security and audit requirements.

Integration

• Manage connectivity with SAP ECC, SAP SRM, SAP IS-U, S/4 HANA, external databases, and third-party tools.
• Configure Open Hub Services for data extraction.

Support & Troubleshooting

• Resolve data load failures, query issues, and system errors.
• Provide L2/L3 support for BW/BOBI-related incidents.

Documentation & Governance

• Maintain technical documentation for data models and processes.
• Ensure adherence to data governance and quality standards.

Project Work

• Participate in BW/BOBI upgrades, migrations, and enhancements.
• Support transition to BW/BOBI/4HANA if applicable.

Data Extraction & Integration

• Proficiency in creating and managing DataSources, Transformations, and DTPs for SAP and non-SAP systems.

Reporting Tools

• Hands-on experience with BEx Queries, Analysis for Office, and integration with front-end tools.

Performance Optimization

• Ability to tune queries, manage aggregates, partitions, and optimize data flows.
• Support ABAP transformations within SAP BW/BOBI.

SAP SAP ECC, SAP SRM, SAP IS-U, S/4 HANA, Integration

• Knowledge of connectivity and data extraction from source systems.

Database & OS Knowledge

• Familiarity with underlying databases (HANA, Oracle, SQL Server) and operating systems (Linux/Windows).

Security & Authorizations

• Understanding of BW/BOBI authorization concepts and compliance requirements.

What you will do:

• Provide day to day Application Management support for SAP Applications across IT Service Management including service requests, incident management, enhancement requests, change management and problem management as Level 2 or 3 Application Management Specialist
• Lead and mentor the cross functional and technical team fostering culture of collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement
• Lead and Coordinate the Resolution of Complex Technical issues and System Outages including root cause analysis and corrective action.
• Provide day to day Application Management support for SAP Applications across IT Service Management including service requests, incident management, enhancement requests, change management and problem management as Level 2 or 3 Application Management Specialist
• Provide senior level support for SAP BW/BOBI Activities including system administration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting across SAP landscapes.
• Perform System Monitoring, Capacity Planning and Tuning to optimize system performance and ensure high availability and scalability.
• Lead and Coordinate the Resolution of Complex Technical issues and System Outages including root cause analysis and corrective action.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather requirements, assess business needs and provide advice on SAP BW/BOBI solutions.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation including system configuration, installation procedures and guidelines.
• Mentor and train junior SAP BW/BOBI Team Members, sharing best practices and providing guidance on technical issues and troubleshooting techniques.
• Keep abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies and SAP best practices to drive operational efficiency through automation and innovation
• Participate in on-call rotation and provide off hours support as needed to ensure the availability and reliability of critical SAP systems.
