EY GDS – Data and Analytics (D&A) – Staff: Data Engineer (Snowflake)
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and implementation of Snowflake environments on major cloud platforms.
- Support data ingestion and transformation using Snowflake features such as:
- Virtual Warehouses for compute operations.
- Databases, Schemas, and Tables for structured data storage.
- Stages for data loading and unloading.
- Snowpipe for automated data ingestion.
- Develop and maintain basic ETL/ELT pipelines under guidance from senior engineers.
- Write and optimize SQL queries for data extraction and reporting.
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot issues and ensure data quality.
- Follow best practices for data security, governance, and compliance.
Skills and Attributes for Success
- Snowflake Fundamentals: Hands-on experience or strong understanding of Snowflake components (Virtual Warehouses, Snowpipe, Streams, Tasks).
- SQL Proficiency: Ability to write and optimize queries.
- Programming Basics: Familiarity with Python for data manipulation.
- Cloud Awareness: Exposure to AWS, Azure, or GCP services.
- ETL Tools: Basic knowledge of any ETL tool is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Experience: 0–3 years in data engineering or related roles.
- Preferred Skills: Snowflake experience, Python, and SQL.
- Certifications: Snowflake or cloud certifications are a plus.
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies is desirable.
