Role purpose.

Lead the day-to-day delivery of the NetPay netting and settlement process, ensuring accurate reconciliation of intercompany balances, timely settlement, strong controls and a consistent service experience for participating EY member firms. The role combines operational ownership with people leadership, member-firm onboarding, stakeholder management, escalation management and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

  • NetPay operations and settlement delivery
    • Own and coordinate daily NetPay operations across participating member firms, ensuring activities are completed accurately, on time and in line with agreed controls and service expectations.
    • Oversee the review and matching of intercompany invoices and open positions across AP and AR, ensuring completeness, consistency and timely resolution of discrepancies.
    • Coordinate the identification and exchange of missing documents and support member firms in correcting mismatches, disputed invoices and other exceptions.
    • Review periodic netting and payment calculations and confirm that settlement outputs are complete, accurate and appropriately validated before circulation.
    • Monitor member-firm payment execution and support the correct application and clearing of receipts and payments.
    • Maintain operational trackers, reconciliations, evidence and process documentation to support transparency, control and audit readiness.

  • Member-firm onboarding and adoption
    • Partner with member firms to onboard them into NetPay, from initial engagement and process assessment through readiness, testing, implementation and transition to business-as-usual operations.
    • Explain NetPay requirements, roles, timelines, controls, data and documentation expectations to local Finance, AP, AR, Treasury and Controlling stakeholders.
    • Develop onboarding plans, track dependencies and risks, and coordinate actions across the central netting team and member-firm stakeholders.
    • Facilitate onboarding workshops, process walkthroughs and knowledge-transfer sessions; provide post-go-live support and stabilize operations.
    • Monitor adoption and compliance after onboarding, address gaps and promote consistent use of the standard NetPay process.

  • Team management and capability development
    • Provide day-to-day direction, work allocation and prioritization for the Netting and Settlement team, balancing operational deadlines, onboarding activity and improvement initiatives.
    • Review team output for quality, completeness and timeliness; provide practical coaching and feedback to strengthen technical and stakeholder-management capability.
    • Ensure adequate coverage, effective handovers and clear ownership of recurring activities, exceptions and follow-ups.
    • Create an inclusive, collaborative environment that encourages accountability, knowledge sharing, continuous learning and proactive problem solving.
    • Identify training needs, maintain process knowledge and support the development of subject-matter expertise and succession capability within the team.

  • Stakeholder and escalation management
    • Act as the primary operational point of contact for participating member firms and central stakeholders on NetPay, netting and settlement matters.
    • Build effective working relationships across geographies and functions, align expectations and provide clear, concise updates on operational status, risks, issues and decisions required.
    • Manage escalations relating to unmatched items, missing documents, disputed invoices, delayed payments, process non-compliance and service delivery concerns.
    • Perform root-cause analysis, agree corrective actions with relevant stakeholders and monitor actions through closure.
    • Escalate material risks and unresolved issues to leadership promptly, supported by facts, impact assessment and recommended next steps.

  • Quality, controls and process improvement
    • Drive a strong quality and control culture through defined review checks, exception monitoring, ageing analysis and timely corrective action.
    • Identify recurring issues, control gaps, manual effort and process bottlenecks; translate observations into practical improvement initiatives.
    • Lead or support standardization, simplification and automation opportunities that improve accuracy, cycle time, transparency and stakeholder experience.
    • Define and monitor relevant operational measures, quality indicators and action plans; use data and trends to prioritize improvement opportunities.
    • Maintain standard operating procedures, process maps, control documentation and other governance materials so they remain current and usable.
    • Support internal and external audit requirements relating to intercompany netting and settlement, including timely provision of evidence and resolution of observations.

  • Reporting and governance
    • Prepare and review weekly operational reporting for participating member firms, providing visibility of invoice status, exceptions, ageing, pending actions and key risks.
    • Provide regular management updates covering delivery performance, onboarding progress, escalations, quality, improvement initiatives and decisions required.
    • Facilitate operational governance calls and ensure actions, owners and target dates are clearly documented and followed through.
    • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting requirements, EY policies, legal requirements and locally agreed operating procedures.

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in intercompany accounting, AP, AR, financial accounting, netting, settlement, treasury operations or a comparable finance process.

  • Ability to analyze operational data, identify root causes and translate findings into sustainable process improvements.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex issues clearly and drive actions to closure.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a global, cross-cultural team environment.
