Financial Analyst Senior Associate
Financial Analysis & Planning Assistant Director
Position Summary:
The primary responsibilities of the Financial Analyst Senior Associate role include reconciling the more complicated balance sheet accounts, reviewing account reconciliations prepared by the Junior Accounting, providing feedback and assisting with issue resolution. They will analyze transactions to drive out issues, determine root causes and recommend corrections to management. This position performs accounting activities including reconciliation and analysis of general ledger accounts, preparation of journal entries, and review of financial controls in accordance with established policies, procedures and statutory requirements.
Essential Functions of the Job:
- Generate monthly reports for review and analysis of financial results.
- Perform general ledger account review, reconciliation and analysis.
- Initiate all needed transactions required to correct any misstatement of the general ledger.
- Identify any ongoing issues that affect financial reporting.
- Prepare and present results of analytical review in oral presentations.
- Perform inventory reporting as required.
- Handle inter-business unit transactions as required.
- Handle requests for ad hoc reports or financial information and interact with internal and external EY personnel to verify information.
- Communicate with external contacts and internal personnel to resolve open issues.
- Serve as a consultant and trainer to other members of the staff on reporting and analysis tools.
- May supervise, provide guidance, and evaluate the work of one or more less experienced financial analysts.
- May be responsible for analyzing operating results to determine overall practice profitability. Comprehend how changes in the firm and/or organizational structure will impact reporting and operating results.
- Analyze results and communicate them to management.
Analytical/Decision Making Responsibilities:
- Analyze financial activity, accumulate billable costs and prepare detailed files supporting invoices to other EY Member Firms.
- Be responsible for preparing information to be included in external and statutory reporting.
- Prepare more complex financial reporting for internal client management
Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
- Computer proficiency; ad hoc reporting and retrieve Hyperion;
- Significant working knowledge of advanced Excel including pivot tables, SAP, and COFI Reporting
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and delegation skills
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to teach others basic software functionality
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Poise and confidence when interacting with top management
Supervision Responsibilities:
- This position generally does not supervise staff however will assist with training staff members as needed.
Other Requirements:
- Vacation generally cannot be taken during month-end and year-end close processes.
Job Requirements:
Education:
- Degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent experience
Experience:
- 4-6 years of related accounting experience
