EY- Risk Consulting – Senior Consultant (Sanctions Screening and Transaction Monitoring Model Validation)
As part of our Risk Consulting – FS team, we are looking for a Senior Consultant with strong consulting and technical skills to join the FS Risk team and to work with our clients on some of the most prestigious projects within the financial services sector across MENA region. The opportunity
As a Senior Consultant, you will engage with clients to support the validation and enhancement of sanctions screening and transaction monitoring models, ensuring they are aligned with regulatory standards and operational requirements. You will work within different sized, multi-disciplinary teams and play a key role in delivering high quality outputs and service to our clients. You will support the validation and fine-tuning of models/tools used for sanctions screening and transaction monitoring. The role involves ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, enhancing model performance, developing subject matter knowledge and supporting the implementation of solutions to meet the ever-changing needs of our clients.
This position will be based out of our offices (Kochi/Thiruvananthapuram) in the state of Kerala.
Your key responsibilities
- Support sanctions screening and transaction monitoring model validation engagements including rule-based systems, anomaly detection and machine learning algorithms.
- Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis to assess model design, effectiveness, performance and compliance with regulatory expectations.
- Execute model testing activities including back-testing, threshold calibration, data analysis and performance assessments.
- Analyse large volumes of transactional and customer data to identify trends, gaps and potential model improvements.
- Assist in the development and enhancement of validation methodologies, frameworks and performance metrics.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the integration of model outputs into business processes.
- Participate in model implementation reviews, fine-tuning exercises and model performance monitoring activities.
- Stay abreast of regulatory changes and advancements in sanctions screening, transaction monitoring and model validation techniques.
- Support multiple client engagements and related initiatives while ensuring timely delivery and quality outcomes.
- Good to have experience in Risk Management or other Risk Consulting engagements.
- The job would require travel (Over 50%) to client locations in Middle East and North Africa such as Dubai, Kuwait, Riyadh, Doha etc.
Skills and attributes for success
- Proficient in SQL and Python.
- Familiarity with database management and data analysis tools.
- Experience in system implementation/fine-tuning, cloud deployment and project delivery.
- Familiarity with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF) regulations and screening tools.
- Understanding of sanctions screening systems, transaction monitoring platforms and model validation methodologies.
- Exceptional command over spoken and written English.
- Globally mobile and flexible to travel to onsite locations at a short notice.
- Highly analytical, organised, and meticulous consulting skills; attention to detail and quality assurance.
- Ability to work collaboratively within engagement teams and contribute effectively to project delivery.
- Ability to multi-task, work well under pressure with commitment to deliver under tight deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize effectively.
- Work experience in similar industry (Big 4 preferred).
- Strong problem-solving, communication and stakeholder management skills.
To qualify for the role, you must have
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Finance, Statistics, Economics or a related quantitative field; advanced degree preferred.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience working with business consulting firms.
- A valid passport for travel.
Preferably, you may also have
- AML, CTF Certification (CAMS, CAFP).
- Experience / certifications in Cloud Data Architecture, Data Engineering.
