Microsoft Entra Application Proxy Engineer

The opportunity
Responsible for the support and administration of the Microsoft Entra Application Proxy infrastructure, utilizing ITIL methodologies to provide technical support and expertise for secure access to on-premises applications through Azure Active Directory. This includes vendor management, infrastructure maintenance, upgrades, deployments, documentation, knowledge sharing, training, troubleshooting, resolving customer issues, and ensuring a positive customer experience while contributing to the overall success of the service. Additionally, the role involves managing Azure Front Door and Web Application Firewall (WAF) policies to enhance security and performance

Your key responsibilities

• Manage the configuration and administration of Microsoft Entra Application Proxy, ensuring secure access to on-premises applications.
• Oversee the integration and management of Azure Front Door and WAF policies to optimize application delivery and security.
• Facilitate new application onboarding by following the intake process, coordinating with stakeholders to ensure all prerequisites are met, and obtaining necessary security consulting approvals.
• Possess strong troubleshooting capabilities for application connectivity and access issues.
• Follow ITIL-defined processes such as incident, problem, and change management established within the organization.
• Responsible for the resolution of incidents and problem cases using vendor documentation, technical skills, and knowledge of the environment.
• Monitor and report on the Microsoft Entra Application Proxy, including service monitoring, health checks, and capacity reporting to ensure optimal performance and reliability
• Conduct evaluations and testing/proofs of concept for new features and integrations.
• Perform maintenance and upgrade activities for the Application Proxy infrastructure.
• Evaluate and recommend new product and/or service offerings by collaborating with vendors

To qualify for the role, you must have

• Experience in managing and configuring Microsoft Entra Application Proxy or similar application access solutions.
• Strong understanding of Entra ID\Active Directory, modern authentication and its integration with on-premises applications.
• Familiarity with Azure Front Door and Web Application Firewall (WAF) policies.
• Skilled in supporting modern workplace tools and resources.
• A good understanding of networking concepts, including DNS, firewalls, and VPNs.
• Familiarity with identity and access management principles and practices.

Ideally, you’ll also have

• Experience in managing and supporting large environments, including planning, designing, installation, monitoring, implementation, and setup of application proxy solutions.
• Knowledge of application security best practices and compliance requirements.
• Experience with troubleshooting authentication and authorization issues in a hybrid environment.
• Ability to create and implement system architecture for application access solutions.
• Experience in writing scripts or code for automation and integration purposes.
• Testing and quality assurance experience to ensure application proxy solutions meet quality and performance standards.
• Experience with the implementation of new products and/or service offerings

What we look for 

• Eight or more years of hands-on experience in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting application access solutions, with a thorough understanding of their design and architecture 
• Experience working in a large global environment with a solid understanding of enterprise-level application access management
