Lab Technician

THE OPPORTUNITY
Lab technician to support end-to-end software, firmware and product testing and validation. Assists the Lab Lead with build-out and design.

 

Your key responsibilities

  • Build, cable, configure, maintain and document lab systems, devices and test environments under the direction of the Lab Lead.
  • Execute end-to-end software, firmware, configuration and product test plans and record clear, reproducible results.
  • Support Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows and Android plus enterprise AV endpoints, peripherals and infrastructure.
  • Provision and reset devices using Microsoft Intune, Autopilot, Microsoft Entra ID and approved deployment procedures.
  • Monitor device health, collect logs, reproduce reported defects and support technical troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
  • Maintain lab inventory, asset labels, firmware and software baselines, test accounts, spares and configuration records.
  • Assist with rack, room and bench build-out, including connectivity checks and safe equipment handling.
  • Raise defects with complete evidence, track retesting and help maintain test scripts, knowledge articles and operating procedures.
  • Coordinate with engineering, vendors and support teams while following lab access, change and security controls.

 

Skills and attributes for success

  • Technical diploma, degree or relevant hands-on experience in AV, IT, electronics or a related field.
  • Practical troubleshooting skills and a structured approach to executing and documenting tests.
  • Good written and verbal English communication and the ability to work effectively with distributed teams.
  • Attention to detail, safe working practices, customer orientation and willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Ability to manage multiple test tasks, shifting priorities and repetitive validation activities accurately.

 

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Hands-on Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows and Android deployment, configuration and lifecycle support.
  • Enterprise AV systems installation, integration and troubleshooting, including cameras, microphones, speakers, displays, DSPs and control devices.
  • Windows and Android device troubleshooting plus basic Microsoft 365 administration awareness.
  • Microsoft Intune device management, Autopilot provisioning and Microsoft Entra ID fundamentals.
  • Basic networking knowledge including TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, DHCP and device connectivity.
  • PowerShell fundamentals for device checks, log collection and repeatable tasks.
  • Experience using monitoring and management platforms such as Teams Admin Center, Control Hub, Poly Lens or Neat Pulse.
  • Ability to follow test plans, capture evidence and maintain accurate inventory and configuration documentation.

 

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Azure Administration knowledge aligned to AZ-104 concepts.
  • Azure Monitor and Log Analytics exposure.
  • Power Automate, Logic Apps or Microsoft Graph API familiarity.
  • Python or scripting experience for test automation.
  • ServiceNow incident, request and asset-management experience.
  • AV industry certification such as CTS or relevant Crestron training.
  • Experience with secure print, smart lockers or workplace spaces technology.
