Finance – Business Analysis – Assistant Director

The opportunity

 

This opportunity as an Assistant Director within the Business Analysis Team involves preparation of plan inputs and are responsible for the preparation of routine financial analysis and interpretation of financial results, report commentaries and cost analysis for a particular Business Unit or Service line. They support finance leadership in identification of areas requiring further analysis to agree corrective action.

 

This role provides critical thinking on business direction, operating and markets performance and financial results, in support of Regional, SL and CBS leadership teams. This position is active in the financial planning processes; identifies business trends; recommends courses of action; and may lead the implementation of advances in technology and software to meet changing business needs.

 

Your key responsibilities

  • Be the FRO (Finance Relationship Owner) for financial and operational issues supporting Service Line/CBS leadership and Finance team members, acting as a trusted business adviser. Develop effective working relationships with other members of the Finance team and Service line leadership, becoming a key member of the team and point of contact.
  • Preparation of budget/ planning templates for designated SL or SSL including first level modelling of plan inputs. Coordination of planning timelines
  • Provide financial scenario modeling and analysis services on performance results of the strategic priorities as outlined in the Strategy, identifying trends and issues that need to be understood, and providing recommendation in support of the strategic direction of the practice
  • Proactively identify analyses to determine causes of performance deviations from expectations (e.g., profitability, inventory levels, realization, utilization, staffing levels, indirect and practice-related expense controls, and cash collections) and suggest course correcting actions.
  • Analyze and present complex financial data in a way that is easily understandable. Develop and support the delivery of communications/presentations that effectively engage audiences, responding to key business issues and recommended solutions. Identify trends and issues that need to be analyzed and understood in clear and visualized form
  • Understand and analyze wins and pipeline, backlogs and provide support on initiatives such as Backlog improvement, pipeline coverage ratio etc.
  • Respond to requests from Finance and Global Service Line Leadership to answer specific ad hoc financial questions and provide insightful information to advance leadership discussion and decision making.
  • Support and lead the completion on time of various planning cycles, ensuring outputs align to the objectives set.
  • Support the design and delivery of ad hoc financial analysis.
  • Ability to model projections and forward-looking view
  • Act as counsellor and coach to other team members as required, supporting development and demonstration of Trusted Business Advisor competencies of the team.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Ability to work in a virtual global organization respecting international cultures
  • A strong understanding of corporate financial management with concentration in financial planning and analysis is required
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze problems, design and implement solutions independently
  • Highly team oriented approach, with flexibility regarding tasks undertaken and the ability to prioritize a number of conflicting demands to meet deadlines
  • Credibility and confidence to challenge and propose better ways of doing things as well as build bridges and harmonize divergent interests and priorities
  • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal; excellent presentation and client advisory skill
  • Proficient in advanced usage of Microsoft Office suite of tools, predominantly Excel and PowerPoint
  • Power BI and/or other data visualization tool experience to support ad hoc analysis and building regular reports
  • Willingness to travel occasionally as needed.

 

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Graduate and/or professional certification in a business-related subject matter (i.e. Accounting, Finance)
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong spoken and written English
