Role Title: GDS Microsoft Marketplace Transactions, Operations & Finance Lead Analyst
Alliance: Microsoft
Competency: Operations Management
Function: GDS ES Growth & Innovation
Skill Level: High
Sub Function: GDS Alliances Program Ops CoE
The opportunity
The Microsoft Alliance is one of EY’s most strategic ecosystem relationships, helping clients accelerate transformation through cloud, data, AI, automation and emerging technologies. As marketplace-led motions become increasingly important to solution commercialization and client activation, disciplined transaction coordination, operational governance and finance visibility are critical to scalable alliance execution.
The Marketplace Transactions, Operations & Finance Lead Analyst will support the Microsoft Alliance team by managing marketplace transaction operations, finance coordination, reporting, documentation, stakeholder follow-through and process governance across Microsoft marketplace-related activities.
This role is designed for a detail-oriented professional who can connect marketplace activity with operational execution and finance transparency. The incumbent will work closely with Microsoft Alliance stakeholders, marketplace and solution teams, finance, commercial, sales, marketing, operations and GDS teams to ensure that transactions, approvals, documentation, reporting and follow-ups are completed accurately, on time and with clear ownership.
The role will also support AI-enabled marketplace growth by helping track AI, Copilot, Azure AI, Data & AI and automation-related marketplace activity, while ensuring transaction support considers business value, responsible AI requirements, data privacy considerations and commercialization readiness in a practical and consistent manner.
Your key responsibilities
- Support marketplace transaction operations, governance routines and business review cadences for Microsoft Alliance marketplace-related activities.
- Maintain transaction trackers, operational status views, finance coordination logs and action registers for marketplace opportunities, submissions, publications and commercial follow-ups.
- Coordinate with solution owners, alliance teams, finance, commercial, sales and operations stakeholders to maintain visibility across transaction progress, readiness gaps, approvals, invoices and documentation requirements, where applicable.
- Independently progress marketplace operations workstreams aligned to Microsoft Alliance priorities, ensuring activities are tracked, updated and advanced with clear owners and timelines.
- Prepare concise leadership and stakeholder summaries covering marketplace transaction status, operational risks, finance dependencies, pending actions and decisions required.
- Support marketplace finance coordination by tracking commercial information, funding linkages, transaction evidence, documentation, reporting inputs and reconciliation follow-ups required by the workstream.
- Develop and maintain marketplace operations dashboards, Excel trackers, Power BI views, SharePoint repositories, reporting calendars and governance documentation.
- Support monthly business reviews, operational check-ins, finance reviews and marketplace readiness discussions by preparing performance narratives and visual summaries.
- Analyze trends across marketplace activity, transaction progress, operational bottlenecks, evidence gaps, finance dependencies and stakeholder actions to identify risks, improvement opportunities and recommended next steps.
- Coordinate with sales, marketing and solution teams to support marketplace activation requirements, including offer narratives, enablement content, client-facing materials, marketplace content and commercialization readiness inputs.
- Support AI-enabled marketplace activities by improving tracker automation, status summaries, exception reporting, dashboard commentary and leadership-ready narratives using responsible AI principles.
- Build efficiency, automation and standardization into marketplace transaction workflows, finance coordination processes, reporting routines, data validation and documentation practices.
- Partner with onshore Microsoft Alliance, marketplace, finance and operations contacts on special requests, process improvements, reporting enhancements and leadership asks.
- Identify transaction risks, data gaps, finance coordination issues, process delays and documentation challenges that may impact marketplace execution, and coordinate timely resolution with stakeholders.
- Translate marketplace, commercial and finance-related updates into simple, stakeholder-friendly narratives that support decision-making and execution follow-through.
Skills and attributes for success
- Strong understanding of marketplace operations, transaction coordination, finance operations, reporting governance and stakeholder follow-through.
- Exposure to sales, pipeline, commercial and finance processes, including opportunity life cycles, transaction tracking, reporting definitions, documentation requirements and operational controls.
- Technology aptitude and comfort working across Microsoft solution areas such as Copilot, Azure AI, Data & AI, Cloud, Security, Business Applications, marketplace offerings and automation at a business level.
- Good understanding of AI-enabled transformation and the ability to apply approved AI tools responsibly to improve marketplace reporting, transaction summaries, exception tracking and operational storytelling.
- Exposure to continuous process improvement, workflow standardization, reporting automation, data validation, process documentation, internal controls and audit-ready evidence management.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills; Power BI, Power Query, dashboarding and AI-enabled productivity tools would be an added advantage.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships with onshore stakeholders and operate effectively in a matrixed global environment.
- Strong problem-solving capability, analytical thinking, root-cause evaluation, mitigation planning and ability to work across multiple teams toward practical issue resolution.
- Good project management skills, including prioritization, tracking, governance, execution discipline, status reporting and management of multiple marketplace and finance-related activities with competing timelines.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to create concise updates, transaction summaries, finance narratives and decision-oriented materials independently.
- Experience working with alliance, marketplace, finance operations, reporting or partner programs in a professional services, consulting or technology-led organization; knowledge of EY and GDS operating models will be an advantage.
To qualify for the role, you must have
- University degree required, preferably in business, finance, commerce, analytics, technology, engineering or a related discipline.
- MBA, postgraduate qualification or relevant certification in finance, analytics, project management, operations or technology would be an added advantage.
- 8+ years of relevant work experience in marketplace operations, transaction coordination, finance operations, alliance operations, sales operations, reporting, consulting, program management or strategic operations.
