Function: GDS ES Growth & Innovation

Skill Level: High

Sub Function: Alliances Partner Ops CoE

Role Purpose

The Emerging Tech Relationships Operations Manager (Assistant Director) exists to enable alliance and ecosystem initiatives through disciplined operational execution and coordination. The role ensures that research activities, program workflows, reporting, and content outputs are well‑structured, accurately tracked, and consistently delivered, allowing senior leaders and strategists to focus on decision‑making and direction. Acting as an operational anchor across teams and systems, the role drives follow‑through, data integrity, and execution reliability across emerging relationship priorities.

Role Summary

The Emerging Tech Relationships Operations Manager provides hands‑on operational, PMO, and coordination support for alliance and ecosystem programs. Working closely with senior team members, the role translates clearly defined requirements into organized research outputs, structured materials, accurate trackers, and timely reports. Responsibilities span market and company research support, content preparation, program coordination, CRM and system maintenance, and performance tracking, with a strong emphasis on precision, responsiveness, and execution quality. The role is execution‑focused, prioritizing structure, consistency, and delivery across multiple workstreams. Success in this position is defined by the ability to manage details, maintain momentum, and ensure that data, materials, and reporting are ready for leadership consumption, while coordinating effectively across functions.

Key Responsibilities:

Market Research & Support (Execution‑Focused)

  • Execute defined market and company research tasks based on clear requirements provided by senior team members.
  • Support market scans through:
    • Web‑based research
    • Use of AI tools to compile and structure company lists
    • Data extraction and organization from PitchBook or similar platforms (where applicable).
  • Assist with initial screening activities, including basic company information, leadership identification, and high‑level fit indicators.
  • Maintain well‑organized records of research inputs and outputs to ensure traceability and re-use.

Content Development & Packaging

  • Prepare structured, digestible outputs (slides, summaries, trackers, briefing materials) based on existing analysis and guidance.
  • Support the development, standardization, and maintenance of templates, decks, and written content used across ecosystem initiatives.
  • Ensure all materials are accurate, clearly structured, and review‑ready for senior stakeholders.

Program & PMO Support

  • Provide PMO‑style operational support for alliance and ecosystem initiatives, including:
    • Maintaining plans, trackers, timelines, and work logs
    • Coordinating inputs across multiple teams
    • Supporting meeting preparation and follow‑ups.
  • Assist with planning and logistics for ecosystem activities such as VC interactions or market visits.
  • Ensure execution remains aligned to agreed timelines and priorities through consistent follow‑through.

Relationship & System Management

  • Maintain and update company and relationship records across CRM and internal tracking tools.
  • Support ongoing monitoring of priority companies and initiatives to ensure continuity and visibility.
  • Ensure data hygiene, consistency, and accuracy across systems such as CRM, BRIDGE, GIS, and ERIP trackers.

Reporting & Performance Tracking

  • Support performance tracking and reporting at:
    • ERIP level
    • Program and function level.
  • Compile data, maintain dashboards or trackers, and prepare summary reports for leadership review.
  • Ensure reporting outputs are timely, consistent, and aligned with governance expectations.

Cross‑Team Coordination

  • Work closely with Risk Management Services and other internal teams to support BRIDGE‑related operational activities.
  • Engage with business teams primarily to gather inputs, clarify requirements, and coordinate execution, escalating issues where required.
  • Serve as a paired or backup resource with similar roles to ensure continuity and coverage across time zones.

General Operational Support

  • Support additional operational and administrative tasks as assigned to ensure smooth functioning of ecosystem activities.
  • Contribute to maintaining execution discipline, structure, and reliability across all assigned workstreams.

Knowledge Requirements:

  • Alliance & Ecosystem Operations Context
  • Working understanding of alliance and ecosystem programs, particularly how operational support enables research, tracking, and program execution.
  • Awareness of early‑stage company discovery and screening concepts, without requiring deep strategic or commercial evaluation expertise.
  • Understanding of how ecosystem initiatives are supported through structured research, coordination, and reporting, rather than strategy formulation.

Market & Company Research Fundamentals

  • Knowledge of basic market and company research techniques, including:
    • Web‑based research
    • Company profile compilation
    • High‑level fit and leadership identification
  • Familiarity with market intelligence platforms such as PitchBook (or similar), sufficient to extract and organize data.

  • Understanding of PMO‑style execution, including:
  • Workplan and timeline tracking
  • Dependency management
  • Meeting coordination and follow‑ups
  • Knowledge of how programs like ERIP are tracked and supported operationally.

Skill Requirements:

  • Strong service mindset with a focus on execution quality and reliability.

Business Communication

  • Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to translate instructions and inputs into clean, structured outputs.
  • Comfortable interacting with business teams to gather inputs, clarify requirements, and escalate issues when necessary.

Content Preparation & Presentation Skills

  • Strong ability to produce well‑structured presentations, summaries, trackers, and documents.
  • Attention to formatting, clarity, and accuracy to ensure materials are review‑ready for senior stakeholders.
  • Comfort working with standard templates and maintaining content consistency.

Reporting & Performance Tracking

  • Ability to compile data, maintain trackers or dashboards, and support performance reporting at:
