Overview
GDS Design Studio, a part of MENA GDS’ Customer and Growth team, combines design, marketing, and customer experience (CX) technology to drive client growth and drive organizational efficiency. We leverage a "design first," human-centred approach to ensure our solutions are built around true user needs and delivered with the latest technology.
We focus specifically on the innovative and growing need for digital transformation within the region. The Opportunity
We are looking for a Staff - UX/UI Designer to join our studio.
This is a hands-on role where you will:
- Support Design Strategy: Contribute to the development of experience direction and compelling storytelling for digital products and services.
- Participate in Project Delivery: Play a key role across the full design and delivery lifecycle, working alongside senior leaders to ensure high-quality outcomes from concept to delivery.
- Collaborate in Workshops: Facilitate and participate in co-creation sessions and workshops with stakeholders and team members to align on project goals.
- Engage in Discovery: Actively participate in the discovery phase using design thinking methodologies and user research to uncover user needs.
- Deliver Multi-Platform Output: Execute high-quality UX/UI deliverables across web, mobile apps, immersive experiences, static design, and motion creatives.
- Partner with Tech Teams: Collaborate closely with technology experts, applying strong technical awareness of custom development, low-code, and ERP integrations to ensure design feasibility.
- Utilize Innovation Tools: Leverage GenAI tools for research, ideation, and rapid prototyping to enhance team efficiency and output.
- Support Peer Growth: Mentor and support junior designers, contributing to a collaborative and growth-oriented studio environment.
- You will be an integral part of the full design and delivery lifecycle—contributing to insights, visioning, and prototyping while championing design excellence as a vital member of our multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities
- Analyze project requirements to translate complex needs into clear, intuitive design solutions.
- Develop and maintain design themes, style guides, and scalable systems to ensure alignment with brand standards.
- Work as a core team player alongside designers, product owners, content writers, and SMEs to achieve unified project goals.
- Conduct research and benchmarking to provide a range of evidence-based design options.
- Identify user friction points and articulate design solutions with a clear, logical rationale.
- Create high-fidelity wireframes, storyboards, user interfaces, icons, and micro-interactions.
- Review implemented designs and coordinate with technology teams for bug fixes and UI enhancements.
- Integrate gamification and micro-interaction strategies to improve user engagement.
- Utilize industry-standard tools including Figma, Adobe CC, Sketch, Miro, and Mural.
- Stay current with emerging design tools, GenAI, and industry best practices.
- Support the growth of junior designers while upholding standards for design quality and accessibility.
- Ensure design consistency and project governance are maintained across all deliverables.
- Ability to travel within the MENA region for client workshops and project-specific needs.
Requirements
- Education
- Design school and Art School graduates/post graduates
- Any other discipline
Experience
- 4-6 years in UX UI design roles with an interesting portfolio
- Appreciates the need to understand business and numbers and its relationship with creative work
Technical Skills
- Hands-on expertise with Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Miro, and Mural for design, collaboration, and prototyping.
- Practical experience with GenAI tools for research synthesis, ideation, and rapid prototyping.
- Background in design systems and scalable UI frameworks.
- Comfortable working across web, mobile, immersive, static, and motion creative formats.
- Adaptable to evolving technology platforms and AI-driven design workflows.
Soft Skills
- Excellent communication skills for seamless partnership with designers, developers, and product managers.
- Ability to articulate design decisions and technical feasibility to diverse, non-technical audiences.
- Detail-oriented mindset with a rigorous focus on quality, precision, and design integrity.
- A systematic approach to identifying and resolving UX/UI challenges efficiently.
- A proactive attitude with the ability to manage workloads, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
