The opportunity

As part of Enterprise Technology, the Intelligent Automation service’s sub-function provides enablement services business customers end to end automation services. The automation sub-function is responsible for the intake, development, configuration, support, governance and compliance of automation services with the firm’s IT processes including information security and technical standards. The role is accountable (a) to provide structure and guidance to define processes, procedures, best practices and standards required to execute the Core Business Services automation strategy and target operate model (b) oversee benefits realization (including costs) (c) 3rd party supplier relationship (c) continuous improvement of Operate Model working closely with both EY and 3rd party leadership to ensure alignment.

The DevOps and Platform Lead will manage a large team consisting of EY employees and 3rd party vendor resources.  The role is responsible for overseeing the deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of AI & Automation applications and infrastructure. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of AI technologies into our DevOps pipeline, enhancing operational efficiency and performance. The role requires strong software engineering experience, low code / no code, platform, process, organizational, people, influencing skills as well as strong leadership for enterprise technology to offer best in class automation services through the hybrid hosting strategy leveraging a DevOps team.

Your key responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of AI-driven DevOps practices and tools.
• Collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, and IT teams to integrate AI models into production environments.
• Monitor and optimize the performance of AI, automation applications and infrastructure.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for AI model deployment.
• Ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of AI systems.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for AI-related issues.
• Mentor and guide team members on best practices in AI and DevOps.
• Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies in AI and DevOps.
• Provide leadership to the team and revamp the structure of how support services are offered across the application and hosting layers.
• Ensure pipeline of demand is understood and is staffed with right competencies and capacity to deliver DevOps services on time
• Develop robust intake processes embedding risk management to help leadership and business teams make informed decisions.
• Ensure development standards are followed, embedding of error capture and reporting, optimal levels of monitoring across platform and process automation layers, MTTI and MTTR via collaboration with the appropriate Infrastructure, SIP and Optimization Leaders.
• Implement improvements for the maintenance / housekeeping activities to promote healthier eco-systems
• Manage relationships with key application / product owners that automation services interact with.
• Forge close relationships with and steer 3rd party providers down the proper path to providing a quality service.
• Provide strong leadership and inject global diverse experience into the DNA of the wider team.
• Where appropriate, work directly with business leaders to discuss operate / support models for new and/or existing automation.
• Meet regularly with vendors to undertake and oversee quality reviews
• Manage expectations regarding contractually agreed Service Levels, resource hiring / turnover etc.
• Provide concise reporting to leadership
• Ensure EY realizes benefits from automation implemented
• Responsible for maintaining, tracking and reinvoicing of hosting fees budgets and general fiscal management.

Analytical/Decision Making Responsibilities:

• Proven leader with AI/ML software engineering, devops, platform and development experience.
• Structured delivery experience gained in a global organization with complex structures / matrix structures in place.
• Good managerial / executive presence.
• Significant experience at stakeholder management and ability to influence and push back on senior stakeholders to protect firm standards
• Correct and timely risk assessment and escalation where required.

Detailed Responsibilities:

• Design and Implementation: Lead the design and implementation of AI-driven DevOps practices, ensuring that AI models are effectively integrated into the development and operations processes.
• Collaboration: Work closely with data scientists, software engineers, and IT teams to facilitate the integration of AI models into production environments, ensuring alignment between development and operational goals.
• Monitoring and Optimization: Monitor the performance of AI applications, Automation and infrastructure, identifying areas for improvement and implementing optimizations to enhance efficiency and reliability.
• CI/CD Pipeline Development: Develop and maintain continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines specifically for AI model deployment, ensuring smooth transitions from development to production.
• Reliability and Security: Ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of AI systems, implementing best practices to protect data and maintain system integrity.
• Technical Support: Provide technical support and troubleshooting for AI-related, Automation (RPA) and platform issues, addressing problems that arise in production environments and ensuring minimal downtime.
• Mentorship and Guidance: Mentor and guide team members on best practices in AI and DevOps, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team.
• Industry Trends: Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies in AI and DevOps, evaluating their potential impact on the organization and recommending appropriate strategies.
• Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of processes, workflows, and configurations related to AI systems and DevOps practices.
• Project Management: Manage projects related to AI deployment and DevOps integration, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business objectives.
• Ensure Critical Success Factors (CSFs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) enabling baselining, reporting and improvements are monitored, understand and communicated to all stakeholders.
• Assist in development of industry best practice.
• Influence regional customers in Service Delivery and EWT to understand and be compliant to processes.
• Embed yourself in a number of COE Networks to drive a consistent level of understanding and promote thought leadership.

Skills and attributes for success

 To qualify for the role, you must have

Education:

• A degree in Computer Science / Engineering or a related discipline; or equivalent work experience

Experience:

• 15+ years in a Global IT environment working with multiple disciplines to deliver projects in line with customer needs
• 3+ Years Global delivery or transformation preferably in large scale infrastructure programs
• 3+ Years in a global operations environment

Certification Requirements:

• Relevant technology qualification highly desirable such as Project or Program Management Professional, ITIL or Prince Practitioner or equivalent experience.
• Relevant certifications in DevOps or AI/ML.
