The opportunity

We are seeking a Communication Specialist who is passionate about developing and editing communications. If you possess strong organizational skills and thrive in a global client environment, this role is perfect for you.

Your key responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Support the planning and execution of communication strategies for policy rollouts, internal initiatives, and project‑related updates.
• Develop, refine, and maintain communication processes and standards for the Independence team.
• Build a solid understanding of assigned Independence processes, tools, and databases to ensure accurate and effective communication.
• Contribute to content creation across channels such as newsletters, announcements, email updates, and intranet pages.
• Assist in coordinating multiple projects, ensuring timelines, quality, and consistency are maintained.

Skills and attributes for success

To excel in this role, you should have:

• Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to craft concise, audience‑appropriate messaging
• Strong organizational and analytical skills.
• A proactive, solutions‑oriented mindset and strong attention to detail.
• Comfort working both independently and in a virtual, fast‑paced environment.
• Visual communication awareness - such as working with design tools and understanding formatting considerations for different communication channels.

To qualify for the role, you must have

• Fluency in English with strong written and verbal communication.
• Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and familiarity with MS Office tools (Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams).
• Ability to manage your own workflow, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy.
• Willingness to work with colleagues across different time zones, including some overlap with EST.

Ideally, you’ll also have

• Experience with content or web‑editing tools and basic understanding of how to format materials for digital communication.
• Familiarity with visual design platforms or creative tools.
• Basic understanding of HTML/CSS for email formatting or GenAI content tools.
• Experience supporting communications within a corporate or global team environment.
