The opportunity
We are looking for an experienced tax professional to join our Indirect Tax team where you will advise clients on transaction tax matters across the GCC and MENA regions. The role involves conducting due diligence, ensuring VAT/GST compliance, and guiding clients on tax implications of business decisions.
Your key responsibilities
- Provide transaction tax advisory services to clients, including mergers, acquisitions, and restructurings focused in the GCC and MENA regions.
- Conduct due diligence reviews to identify tax risks and opportunities.
- Prepare and review tax compliance documentation related to entities involved in the transaction focused on GST/VAT and other indirect taxes.
- Collaborate with the tax and finance teams workstreams within the practice to deliver efficient tax outcomes and develop strong relationships within the overall tax practice.
- Assist the central tax team to help clients in understanding the tax implications of their business decisions.
- Develop knowledge of key GCC indirect taxes and stay updated on tax legislation and industry trends to provide informed advice.
- Mentor and train junior staff members in the Indirect tax advisory practices.
Skills and attributes for success
- 2-4 years of experience in transaction tax advisory and due diligence, preferably within a Big 4 accounting firm specifically involving:
- Structuring and advising on the direct or indirect tax implications of mergers and acquisitions.
- Conducting tax due diligence assessments and preparing reports for clients.
- Identifying and mitigating tax risks associated with transactions.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in tax research, understanding ERP system tax outputs and financial statement reports.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in teams.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong English written and speaking skills (ability to comprehend and read Arabic desirable but not required)
