The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a highly efficient, detail-oriented, and strongly skilled Associate Independence Team Member who has a deep understanding and ability to maintain high standards of independence in professional judgements and actions. The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate sound ethical behavior and decision-making skills in their day-to-day tasks and have an ability to handle sensitive information with the utmost confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify potential conflicts of interest and independence issues related to clients and employees.
- Communicate efficiently and periodically with management about risk management procedures and their implementation.
- Interpret and apply independence rules and regulations according to company’s policy and relevant professional standards.
- Monitor changes in professional standards relating to independence and report impacts to leadership.
- Maintain confidential client information systems, accurately documenting relevant data accordingly.
- Analyze the client structure, its affiliates, service line and people of the firm in order to be Independent from the audit client with regards to different regulatory authorities.
- Use tools and techniques to perform independence related checks on various audit and non-audit clients.
- Actively participate in team meetings, contributing to strategies and providing suggestions improved best practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional team members, fostering a cooperative working environment.
- Engage in independence monitoring programs and process improvement initiatives.
- Promote commitment to ethics, audit quality, risk management, and independence within the firm.
- Participate in additional risk management and independence projects as needed.
To qualify for the role you must have
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Law, Compliance, or any related field.
- Proven experience in Independence or Risk Management domain; preferably within a professional services firm or similar environment.
- Comprehensive understanding of professional independence regulations.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Strong organizational and communication skills with attention to details and documentation standards.
- Critical thinking, analytical and research skills with the ability to evaluate information to make a decision
- Ability to handle sensitive matters with utmost confidentiality and discretion.
