The opportunity

The prospect will be responsible for driving client’s financial planning cycles, ensuring rigorous cost control, and optimizing liquidity through effective working capital management. This role requires a strong technical understanding of financial modelling, cost accounting, and variance analysis to provide strategic, data-driven insights to Client’s executive leadership and business unit heads.

Key Responsibilities

I. Budgeting & Financial Planning

  • Annual Budget & Forecast: Lead the end-to-end annual operating budget preparation and quarterly/monthly forecasting processes, collaborating closely with all Client departments to ensure alignment with Client corporate strategic goals.
  • Policy & Procedure: Develop, document, and enforce comprehensive budget policies, cost control procedures, and financial planning guidelines
  • Financial Modeling: Build and maintain dynamic, driver-based financial models (e.g., in Excel, Hyperion, or similar FP&A tools) for financial forecasting and long-range planning.

II. Performance Monitoring & Analysis

  • Variance Analysis: Conduct in-depth monthly and quarterly variance analysis, comparing actual financial results against budget and forecast.
  • Reporting: Prepare clear, concise, and actionable management reports that explain significant budget deviations, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions to management.

III. Cost Management & Optimization

  • Cost Analysis & Allocation: Implement and manage cost accounting systems (e.g., Activity-Based Costing (ABC) ensuring accurate product/service costing and logical allocation of overhead expenses to cost centers.
  • Optimization: Lead initiatives to analyze cost structures, identify inefficiencies, and recommend cost-saving measures to improve operational profitability without compromising quality.
  • Cost Driver Evaluation: Systematically evaluate key cost drivers using statistical and analytical methods to enhance forecasting accuracy and control mechanisms.

IV. Working Capital & Liquidity Management

  • Working Capital Optimization: Monitor and manage key components of net working capital, including Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), and Inventory.
  • Cash Conversion Cycle: Analyze and identify opportunities to shorten the Cash Conversion Cycle (CCC) by optimizing Days Sales Outstanding (DSO), Days Inventory Outstanding (DIO), and Days Payable Outstanding (DPO).
  • Cash Flow Forecasting: Develop and maintain short-term and long-term cash flow forecasts to manage liquidity risk and optimize cash utilization.

 

Required Qualifications & Skills

Education & Certification

  • Education: Minimum MBA (Preferably in Accounting and Finance).
  • Certification: Relevant professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA, or CFA) is strongly preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Financial Modelling
  • Cost Accounting: In-depth knowledge of GAAP/IFRS and advanced cost accounting methodologies (e.g., ABC, Standard Costing).
  • Software Proficiency: Experience with large-scale ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and dedicated FP&A/EPM software (e.g., Hyperion, Anaplan, Adaptive Planning).
  • Data Visualization: Experience using BI/reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) to present complex financial data.

Analytical & Soft Skills

  • Analytical Acumen: Exceptional ability to interpret complex financial data, identify trends, and translate technical analysis into clear, strategic business insights.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information effectively to non-financial stakeholders and senior management.
  • Business Partnership: Proven ability to build strong relationships and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
  • Proactivity & Detail Orientation: Self-starter with a meticulous approach to data accuracy and the ability to manage multiple deliverables under tight deadlines.
