Manager - EYP Strategy
Job description
The opportunity
Are you passionate about helping organisations grow with purpose and deliver real-world transformation? At EY, we work with clients to solve complex strategic challenges and turn ambition into action - from strategy to practical delivery.
As a Manager in Strategy & Transformation, you will lead workstreams on high-impact engagements in South Africa and across EY’s global network. You’ll combine structured strategic thinking with pragmatic execution, working closely with clients and coaching teams to deliver outcomes that matter.
This is a strategy-first role. Digital, innovation and Customer Experience (CX) are treated as value levers within broader business and transformation strategy - not as standalone technology delivery.
Lead strategy and transformation work
- Lead workstreams across corporate strategy, growth strategy, portfolio strategy and transformation strategy, including operating model and business model design.
- Break down ambiguous problems, build clear hypotheses, and turn analysis into practical insights for senior decision-makers.
- Help define transformation roadmaps that connect strategic intent to measurable outcomes.
Move from design to delivery
- Translate strategy into implementable plans (e.g., operating models, governance, capability requirements and delivery roadmaps).
- Support clients through major transformation journeys by making recommendations that are realistic, sequenced and value-driven.
- Contribute to innovation-led and digitally enabled transformation as part of broader strategy work.
Lead and grow teams
- Build supportive, inclusive teams that deliver high-quality work and learn along the way.
- Coach Consultants and Senior Consultants through clear delegation, regular feedback and on-the-job development.
Manage quality, risk and delivery
- Manage workstreams against scope, timeline and budget, and proactively identify risks and trade-offs.
- Apply EY quality, risk and independence (professional standards) consistently.
- Take accountability for clear, well-structured client deliverables.
Build client relationships and support growth
- Build trusted relationships with client stakeholders.
- Contribute to proposals, solution shaping and identifying opportunities.
- Collaborate across EY service lines to bring integrated, strategy-led solutions to clients.
- You lead workstreams with confidence and communicate clearly with senior stakeholders.
- Your teams deliver strong outcomes and grow through your coaching.
- Your work is known for clarity, insight and practicality — and supports real implementation.
- You contribute to developing the practice through proposal work, collaboration and knowledge-sharing.
We’re looking for the capabilities below. If you meet most of them and are excited by the role, we encourage you to apply
- Experience in strategy, transformation or management consulting, or equivalent strategy-heavy experience in industry/public sector.
- Strong problem-solving skills: you can structure complex issues and synthesise insights.
- Experience leading teams and delivering workstreams end-to-end (with appropriate support and oversight).
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills (written, verbal and visual).
- Operating model design, transformation roadmaps or large-scale change programme experience.
- Customer Experience (CX) experience (e.g., customer-centric strategy, journey design, service design, experience-led transformation) within broader business strategy.
- Exposure to innovation-led or digitally enabled transformation from a strategy perspective.
- Commercial awareness and experience contributing to proposals or pipeline development.
- Curiosity, learning agility and comfort solving new problems with a team.
At EY, you’ll build a career as unique as you are — supported by inclusive teams, continuous learning and meaningful work. You’ll have opportunities to deepen your strategy expertise, grow as a leader, and make an impact for clients, colleagues and society.
- Strategy-led, high-impact work with leading organisations.
- Coaching, feedback and development through diverse experiences and formal learning.
- An empowering, collaborative environment where your perspective is valued.
