EY is seeking an experienced Talent Assistant Manager / HR Business Partner to oversee and deliver comprehensive human resource services that drive business performance, foster employee engagement, and promote organizational effectiveness. In this role, you will collaborate closely with leadership to shape and implement people strategies, maintain compliance with employment legislation, and cultivate a high-performing, inclusive workplace culture. You will provide holistic HR operational and people support to designated service lines, ensuring the seamless execution of core HR processes, employee lifecycle management, recruitment, and engagement initiatives. As a trusted advisor to leadership, you will champion sound HR practices and contribute to the ongoing success of the Bloemfontein and Gqeberha offices.
Key Responsibilities
HR Operations & Employee Lifecycle
- Manage the full employee lifecycle across the Bloem & Gqeberha offices (onboarding to exit).
- Own BAU HR operations, metrics, and administration.
- Ensure accurate HR records, reporting, and compliance with labour legislation.
- Coordinate payroll inputs, benefits administration, and employee documentation.
Recruitment & Talent Support
- Lead graduate recruitment for the regions and support experienced hiring with the central recruitment team.
- Drive onboarding and retention initiatives.
- Coordinate talent processes including onboarding, performance management, and compensation planning.
Business Partnering & Employee Relations
- Partner with service line leaders on workforce planning, talent management, and engagement.
- Provide coaching and guidance to leaders on employee-related matters.
- Manage disciplinary processes, performance issues, and general employee relations working with the employee relations team.
Learning, Engagement & Wellbeing
- Coordinate with Learning & Development on programme implementation.
- Support engagement, wellbeing, and flexible working initiatives.
- Advise leaders on compensation, benefits, and employee experience practices.
Strategic HR Support
- Support the HR Lead with strategic people planning and key HR initiatives.
- Participate in and lead special HR projects to improve processes and employee experience.
Office & Facilities Oversight
- Oversee office management activities and supervise facilities staff where applicable.

Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources (or a related field)
- 5+ years’ experience in Human Resources is preferred
- Strong PC proficiency including MS word, Excel and PowerPoint
- The ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic team-oriented environment
