The position will operate as a Chief of Staff-style role supporting the leadership and execution of the Tax practice's strategic agenda.

Working closely with senior leadership, the successful candidate will help translate priorities into action, connect stakeholders across the organisation and lead selected strategic initiatives that contribute to the long-term success of the practice.

Your key responsibilities

Drive strategic execution

• Support the translation of strategic priorities into clear initiatives, milestones and measurable outcomes.
• Maintain visibility across the practice's portfolio of strategic initiatives.
• Track progress, identify execution risks and help remove barriers to delivery.
• Support leadership in monitoring performance against key objectives.
• Ensure that important decisions are translated into action and sustained momentum.

Lead strategic projects

• Lead selected cross-functional initiatives from planning through execution.
• Establish appropriate governance, reporting and stakeholder engagement approaches.
• Coordinate activity across multiple teams and functions.
• Ensure projects remain focused on intended business and organisational outcomes.
• Support initiatives related to business growth, operational effectiveness, talent, innovation and organisational transformation.

Enable leadership decision-making

• Prepare executive briefings, presentations and decision-support materials.
• Conduct research, analysis and synthesis of information to support leadership discussions.
• Bring together insights from multiple stakeholders and develop clear recommendations.
• Support leadership forums through preparation, follow-up and action tracking.
• Help maintain focus on the issues that matter most to the business.

Connect and align stakeholders

• Build strong relationships across the Tax practice and broader EY organisation.
• Coordinate engagement across local, regional and global stakeholder groups.
• Support collaboration across teams with diverse objectives and priorities.
• Maintain visibility of commitments and ensure timely follow-through.
• Represent the leadership office with professionalism, discretion and sound judgement.

Develop executive communications

• Create executive-level presentations, reports, briefing packs and leadership communications.
• Translate complex topics into concise and compelling narratives.
• Support leadership positioning through thought leadership, strategic communications and selected market-facing initiatives.
• Maintain and continuously improve the quality of core strategic content and knowledge assets.
• Work closely with Brand, Marketing, Communications and subject-matter teams when required.

Improve ways of working

• Strengthen the operating rhythm through which the practice plans, governs and executes priorities.
• Identify opportunities to simplify processes and improve accountability.
• Leverage data, technology and AI-enabled ways of working to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
• Support knowledge management and institutional learning across the practice.
• Foster a culture of execution, collaboration and continuous improvement.

To qualify for the role, you must have

• A relevant undergraduate degree.
• Experience in strategy, transformation, programme management, consulting, business operations or related disciplines.
• Experience managing complex initiatives involving multiple stakeholders.
• Strong experience preparing content for senior leadership audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to convert ideas into practical execution plans and measurable outcomes.

Ideally, you'll also have

• A relevant postgraduate qualification.
• Previous experience in a Chief of Staff, strategy, transformation or executive-office environment.
• Experience working across countries, regions or global teams.
• Exposure to professional services, Tax or another regulated and knowledge-intensive environment.
• Experience supporting organisational change, market-facing programmes or innovation initiatives.
• Advanced capability in executive writing, presentation development and data-informed decision support.
