Role Overview:

The BMC Marketing Assistant Manager will support, promote and enhance EY's external and internal brand by maintaining strategic relationships with sector/service line leaders; planning and leading go-to-market and engagement initiatives; connecting the dots on branding/advertising opportunities; and supporting other large-scale projects consistent with the marketing goals of the firm. This position will have a sector/service line focus and working closely with the sector/service line leads as well as the BMC GTM Lead. This role will build strong relationships with key executives and acquire the subject matter expertise necessary to be a strategic advisor on all areas of Brand, Marketing and Communications as it relates to supporting our client marketing activity.

 

Role Detail

  • Deliver upon agreed plans, from strategy to execution and measurement
  • Lead sector/service line projects, ensuring high-quality development and execution of strategies and deliverables from start to finish in a fast-paced environment, often on tight timelines.
  • Work with BMC GTM lead to act as strategic advisor to leadership by leveraging best practices and the right mix of activities to achieve their desired outcome.
  • Advise on sponsorship requests, develop sponsorship plans, execute benefits and report ROI.
  • Stay abreast of and leverage EY thought leadership from EY Global and advise on what to is relevant for the Africa market Work in partnership with other marketing and communications teams, such as public relations, internal communications, digital marketing, advertising etc., to optimise marketing and communications opportunities.
  • Align with business development counterparts to best support the market segments.
  • Act as a brand champion, ensuring all go-to-market initiatives and programmes support the firm's brand and business strategy. Support projects in other areas of the local and Africa-wide BMC teams as needed
  • Quickly build knowledge of the EY business, particularly the key priorities and growth drivers, structure, internal audience, SL programmes, core offerings and our clients' issues and agendas across SLs, sectors and geographies globally.
  • Have a passion for multi-channel, integrated marketing with sharp focus on internal and external digital channels and platforms.
  • Work autonomously as well as integrate with other areas of the business.
  • Manage multiple projects under tight deadlines and maintain attention to detail.

 

Analytical/Decision Making Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the management and effectiveness of ensuring business and BMC synergy
  •       Contribute to the budgetary planning, ensure that required budgetary resources are allocated to achieve divisional plans Manages the demand for projects and prioritizes resources accordingly
  • Manages projects from start to finish, including project management and stakeholder management Balances competing priorities and multiple projects
  • Deals with a range of senior stakeholders with varying perspectives
  • Willing to challenge the status quo using appropriate diplomacy

 

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Solid marketing and comms professional with a proven track record in developing marketing and comms strategies and managing high profile, successful campaigns
  • Ability to build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships and able to demonstrate that they have operated as a 'trusted advisor' to the business
  • Confidence to challenge and influence key decision makers to ensure the right outcomes for the business
  • Able to work within a matrix structure — balancing the needs of the service line against firm wide marketing initiatives and goals and the firm's communications strategy
  • Inspires trust and confidence in terms of ability to provide advice and guidance, manage expectations and provide sound judgement
  • Strong technical marketing and comms knowledge (i.e. good understanding of digital, social media etc.) and ability to apply this knowledge in the design and delivery of successful campaigns
  • Able to demonstrate a commercial approach and knowledge of broader marketing and comms trends and insights

Education:

Marketing Degree or Diploma

 

Experience:

  • Minimum of 6 years Marketing & Communications work experience, in a client centric marketing team/capacity
  • Previous corporate exposure, with a preference for candidates with experience in Professional Services

The role is based in Sandton, South Africa and forms part of the Africa Brand, Marketing & Communications team, which is responsible for external brand and communications, design, digital communication, events, thought leadership, alumni programme and internal communication. The Brand, Marketing and Communication team forms part of Accounts & Business Development (ABD) in Core Business Services. The Africa region is a single business spanning 33 countries and includes over 260 partners and 5,000 people. The Africa region is one of the largest and most diverse businesses in EY and is made up of four service lines: Assurance, Consulting, Tax and Strategy and ransaction Services.
