Role Overview

EY is seeking experienced professionals to support Card Management System transformation, card migration, and payment-system implementation and integration programmes for banks and financial institutions. The role will serve as a functional subject-matter expert across card issuing, payment switching, payment fraud controls, settlement, reconciliation, clearing and delivery from requirements through go-live and stabilisation.

Primary focus: Card Management System implementation and migration; settlement and reconciliation solution design; and integration with card schemes, domestic switching networks, SNAP, BI-FAST and other payment infrastructures.

Main Responsibilities, one of the following:

1. Card Management System and migration

  • Lead functional analysis, configuration and delivery for CMS/CMP implementation, enhancement and migration.
  • Design end-to-end card issuing lifecycle requirements: onboarding, product set-up, issuance, personalisation, PIN, activation, limits, renewal, replacement, blocking/hotlisting, closure and servicing.
  • Perform legacy-to-target gap analysis, data mapping and validation; define mock migrations, cutover sequencing, reconciliation controls, rollback criteria, production validation and stabilisation.
  • Analyse authorisation, clearing, settlement, reversals, adjustments, disputes and chargebacks across debit and credit card products.

2. Payment systems and integration

  • Lead functional design and integration across international card schemes (Visa/Mastercard), domestic switching networks (Rintis/Alto/Jalin/Artajasa), and payment infrastructures including SNAP, BI-FAST and RTGS.
  • Analyse and validate ISO 8583 and ISO 20022 message flows, routing rules, interfaces, APIs and exception handling; familiarity with SWIFT MT/MX is preferred.
  • Support scheme/network certification, interface testing, end-to-end testing and production readiness with client, vendor and network stakeholders.

3. Settlement, reconciliation and fraud controls

  • Design the target settlement and reconciliation solution, including source-to-ledger data flows, matching logic, settlement cycles, fee and interchange treatment, suspense handling, exception workflows, control points, reporting and audit trails.
  • Configure and validate reconciliation, clearing and settlement rules; investigate transaction exceptions, reconciliation breaks, settlement discrepancies and production incidents.
  • Define and validate Fraud Detection / Fraud Management integration, including real-time monitoring, rules and thresholds, alerts, case workflows, investigation and reporting.
  • Perform root cause analysis and recommend remediation across process, configuration, interfaces, data and operational controls.

4. SIT, UAT, migration and delivery governance

  • Define the SIT strategy and scope, integration scenarios, test data, traceability, entry/exit criteria, defect severity and completion evidence across CMS, switching, fraud, settlement and reconciliation interfaces.
  • Define the UAT strategy and scope, business scenarios, acceptance criteria, user roles, test data, defect triage, sign-off requirements and operational-readiness evidence.
  • Define the migration strategy and scope, including data objects, mapping and cleansing rules, reconciliation controls, mock migrations, cutover sequence, rollback criteria, acceptance and post-migration validation.
  • Gather requirements and prepare functional specifications, process flows, configuration documents, user stories, test artefacts, issue logs, operating procedures and training materials.
  • Coordinate business, operations, technology, vendors and payment networks; manage status, risks, issues, decisions and knowledge transfer. Manager candidates will lead workstreams and coach team members.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Finance or a related discipline.
  • 5–12 years of relevant experience in banking, cards, payments, transaction banking, fintech, payment processing or financial-services technology.
  • Hands-on experience with CMS/CMP, debit/credit card issuing, card migration and payment-system integration.
  • Strong knowledge of the card issuing and transaction lifecycles, including authorisation, clearing, settlement, reconciliation, reversals, adjustments, disputes and chargebacks.
  • Experience with Visa/Mastercard and Rintis/Alto/Jalin/Artajasa, with familiarity in SNAP and BI-FAST.
  • Hands-on experience in a PCI-DSS-compliant system or cardholder-data environment.
  • Experience with Fraud Detection / Fraud Management systems, including transaction monitoring, rules, alerts, cases and investigation workflows.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 8583 and ISO 20022; familiarity with SWIFT and RTGS.
  • Strong business analysis, structured problem-solving, stakeholder management, communication and documentation skills.

Preferred experience

  • Prior experience in one or more delivery roles: Project Manager, Solution Architect, Business Analyst, or Quality Assurance / Test Lead.
  • Card scheme or payment-network certification; issuer, acquirer, switch, payment hub, settlement or reconciliation-engine implementation.
  • Experience with recognised card platforms such as HPS PowerCARD, OpenWay Way4, VisionPLUS, PRIME, TSYS, FIS, Fiserv, Compass Plus or comparable solutions.
  • Experience leading workshops and workstreams in complex, multi-vendor delivery environments.

Success profile

A credible functional consultant who combines deep cards and payments knowledge with disciplined solution design and delivery. The candidate should connect business, operations, technology, vendors and payment networks, while maintaining clear requirements, controls, traceability and acceptance evidence.
