Tax – BTS Private Tax – Strategic Technology Transformation Senior Manager
The opportunity

As a Senior Tax Manager in the Private Tax Center of Excellence, you will support the operational strategy for the Private Tax Center of Excellence (CoE), with a focus on technical support, technology strategy, vendor relationship management, and the implementation of a productivity-based staffing model for offshore teams. This role will design and implement a scalable workflow model inspired by known processes to complement and enhance the existing EY team’s capabilities. This includes leveraging best practices to streamline workflows, improve turnaround times and increase quality. The ideal candidate will also contribute to client-facing engagements and tax return preparation.
Your key responsibilities
- Technical Support Leadership: Oversee and enhance technical support systems and workflows to ensure seamless operations across tax return preparation and related services. Connecting the dots between client servers and technology using prep experience
- Vendor Relationship Management: Establish and manage strategic relationships with vendors, including technology providers and outsourcing partners, to ensure service quality and alignment with CoE goals.
- Productivity-Based Staffing Model: Design and implement a staffing framework that evaluates team performance based on productivity metrics rather than traditional chargeable hours, fostering efficiency and accountability.
- Outsource model: Build and replicate a known model within the CoE to streamline tax return preparation and improve turnaround times.
- Client-Facing Engagements: Participate in client interactions and pursuits, offering expertise in tax return preparation and operational strategy to support business development and client satisfaction.
- Continuous Improvement and Analytics: Use data to determine patterns, cycle time, error and rework rates, and satisfaction scores. Iterate on workflows, templates, checklists and knowledge assets.
Skills and attributes for success
To qualify for the role you must have
- A bachelor's degree
- 7-10+ years in tax operations.
- CPA, Bar membership, or EA
- Strong understanding of tax return preparation processes, including workflows and outsourcing models.
- Proven experience in technical support and vendor management within a tax or financial services environment, including integrations, APIs and tool rationalization.
- Demonstrated success in implementing productivity-based staffing models and operational improvements.
Ideally, you’ll also have
- Effective leadership and team management capabilities.
- The ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders, including internal service lines, engineering/IT, and vendors.

- We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $132,100 to $301,600. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $158,500 to $342,700. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
