The Opportunity

 

We’re looking for an incumbent who is competent to provide services such as Accounting policy support and Disclosure support for IFRS/USGAAP. The incumbent will work for top global clients across a wide variety of markets and industry sectors.

 

As part of our EY GDS FAAS Team, the individual will be responsible for working closely with FAAS Managers and Senior Managers on client engagements across Americas, EMEIA or APAC.

 

 

Your Key Responsibilities

 

  • Responsible for drafting and designing Accounting policies or Accounting Policy Manuals on various Accounting topics under US GAAP/IFRS/International GAAP
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of accounting concepts; stay informed of professional standards and firm policies (e.g., guidelines of the EY FAAS Policy Manual); and effectively apply this knowledge to moderately difficult and/or complex client situations
  • Demonstrate knowledge on special accounting matters, new accounting pronouncements, technology oriented solution driven by accounting as a functional expertise
  • Provide disclosure support
  • Coordinating with on-shore teams to understand their accounting issue(s) and provide research assistance on an as-needed basis on U.S. GAAP and IFRS accounting pronouncements
  • Ensure quality in delivering client service by directing daily progress of work, informing Supervisors of engagement status
  • Developing client deliverables and engagement documentation
  • Working directly with the GDS Manager/Onshore engagement team on a daily basis to deliver work to onshore clients;
  • Support development of technology tools to implement innovative ways to work and improved methodologies for project delivery
  • Support development of go-to-market strategies as per the direction from Manager and Senior Manager
  • Work on clients from a variety of sectors/industries in all stages, from initial client pitches to engagement conclusion
  • Responsible for decision-making, optimizing processes, resource management, and overseeing team management as needed for task execution.
  • Accountable for allocating personnel, supervising team members, assigning tasks, ensuring that the team has the necessary tools and support to succeed in their roles and optimizing and evaluating their performance to meet organizational goals.

 

 

Skills and attributes for success

 

  • Good understanding of IFRS/US/I GAAP and International accounting standards
  • Ability to benchmark client data to industry data
  • Primary responsibility for project management, ensuring relevant information flow and appropriate coordination between team members
  • Excellent and high level of creative and technical writing skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to present complex information in a concise and clear manner
  • Ability and comfort level in researching client inquires and emerging issues, including regulations, industry practices and new technologies
  • Flexibility of timing
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Good listening skills, inquisitive nature, intellectual curiosity and self-starter qualities
  • Ability to interface with all levels of management (EY and clients)

 

 

Working experience in:

 

  • Drafting and designing accounting policies
  • Technical accounting research and advice
  • Disclosure Support
  • Professional experience
  • Typical experience may include, whilst not limited to:
  • Experience of working in an advisory role.
  • Advanced skills and experience with: drafting policies (accounting and non-accounting), writing memos/whitepapers on significant accounting issues
  • Hands-on consulting experience at a Big 4, or top tier consulting firm

 

 

To qualify for the role, you must have

 

  • Chartered Accountant (CA), CPA (US) or ACCA (UK)
  • 2-5 years (post qualification) of prior experience in this domain

 

 

Ideally, you’ll also
